Bottle from Corti Brothers. Pours translucent blood orange with a slight off-white head. Aroma is woody with hints of cherry. Med + body. Flavor is non-sweet cherry (but not sour), and something that seems very woody. Dry, near astringent. Very different. Good drink.

From Notes: On tap at Trappist’s Sour & Bitter Festival. Aroma is full of fairly sweet cherry notes with some light berry and faint oak character. Moderate acidity and a light malt character of caramel and toasted bread. Pours a slightly cloudy reddish orange with some brown hues. Faint head and lacing. Flavor has a light sweetness with moderate acidity. Moderate cherry notes, both sweet and tart, with some berry character. Acidity adds a hint of citrus, not acetic at all. Faint caramel and toasted bread notes with low oak character and low bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice sour beer with a lot of cherry character, maybe a bit too much. The fruit notes seemed to overwhelm a lot of the other character, in particular the yeast.Could perhaps use a bit more malt and oak notes to balance out the fruit.

A slightly hazy golden beer topped by a finger-thick off-white head. The aroma is piney and orangey, with some pale malts in the far back. A bit weak, but sure nice. It’s medium bodied and soft on the palate, with a nice carbonation level. Some sweet maltyness in the flavor, but it’s hop driven, with a nice bitterness, as well as pine cones, resins and oranges. Lasting bitter and piney finish. A nice and tasteful thirst quencher, but a bit too weak all the way. 140829
