Medium offwhite head. Medium amber body with light carbonation. Earthy mealy sugary aroma with caramelly notes. Sugary resiny strawy taste with earthy spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry-sweet resiny spicy aftertaste with earthy mealy notes. Interesting, characterful beer that tastes more like a Baltic lager. (0.33l can, from Lawson, Kanazawa.)

Sorta like Moscato: certainly fine, but a bit too light and sweet to want much of. Unique citrus flava, tho.

Can from Natural Lawson. Pours quite foamy, amber or dark orange, take your pick. Aroma is quite faint, some biscuits and mainly wet metallic vibe to it. tastes quite simple, malty, caramelly and messy pale ale. If I try hard, I can also get some citric notes but that’s pretty much it. Didn’t really work that well with my chicken wings, so not really sure how good is this with meat. Can drink it but otherwise, not to be repeated.

A genuinely good Japanese pale ale can be hard to come by. Good find!

I think this was released to celebrate "Meat Day" (Ni (February) Ku (Ninth) and I got mine at Lawsons. Helios Niku Senyou Pale Ale 5% An opaque gold with a thick beige head. The nose is citrus, caramel, banana bread... Maybe getting long in the tooth. Biscuit and caramel, some diacetyl and a bitter metallic earthiness. I’ll see if it gets better with my niku dinner but at the moment this is a fail...

Can in Naha, Okinawa. Dark color, but not quite opaque. Dense beige head with good retention. Aroma’s: fruity, raisin, light sour. Retronasal it’s droppig, sweetish, fruity. Flavor is a bit droppy, roasty, light sweet and light fruity sour. Light bodied. Finish is roasty, light drop, slightly dry and lightly bitter. OK

Can in Naha, Okinawa. Clear golden yellow color. White head with good retention. Aroma’s: fruity, rice, like a true Japanese lager. Retronasal it’s also a bit stale and vegetal. Flavor is a bit fruity sour, with a hint of bitterness. Light bodied. Finish is indeed dry, with a weird, rather harsh bitterness that is completely out of place with this beer. Not very good.
