Description
Alexis Jones started up Mad Dog Brewing Co Ltd in October 2014 brewing from his kitchen at home. Closure of the brewery was imminent in early 2020, but later in the year the brewery was taken over whilst re-employing the former director as head brewer. Then located on a small industrial unit in Penperlleni.
In February 2022 we moved the brewery from our small unit in Penperlleni in to a larger, more dynamic space in the heart of Cardiff city centre. The move enables us to brew in larger quantities, and with the aid of some brand new equipment, hone in on our brewing processes to drive the quality of our beers forward!
In the same month, we opened our flagship taproom at the same venue as the brewery, meaning that we now have the perfect spot to deliver our beers at their freshest and tastiest!we are brewing on a modest 6bbl kit with 6 fermentation vessels. With Alexis leading the brew exploration, the team remains small and close knit each pitching in to help the other.
Mad Dog Brewery strives to produce an eclectic range of top quality, exciting beers from sour pales to hefty imperial stouts and everything in between. Utilising our fantastic Welsh water and the very best ingredients, we are able to
produce beers of outstanding quality to satisfy even the most adventurous and inquisitive beer aficionado.

Cask-conditioned at the Lime Kiln, Bristol 12/9/2016. Deep gold in colour, with a slight, white, head. Tropical and tangerine fruits, grassy hops, hint of pine, biscuity malts and a moderately dry finish. Very good.

Cask handpump at The Bull Baiters, St Johnβs, Worcester Saturday 17th September 2016 Quite punchy, bitterness appears more than 35 IBU, sweet, juicy a little dry finish, some pine resin, colour is light mid gold, slight haze but generally pretty good clarity. Really decent beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 OV16 3.8

Cask at the Nags Head, Reading. A pale amber pour with a ring of white head; clementine aroma; some jammy malts and an orangey citrus taste; then a dry citrusy finish. Pleasant, but nothing more.

Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Danny. Clear amber beer, thin tan head. Palate is airy, dry and has decent fine carbonation. Dry and bitterish dark malts, thin. Dry dark chocolate. Light and bitter floralness. Sorachi? A bare whisper. Light dry finish. Itβs okay but there are many many better about.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; hazy amber pour with a tiny translucent head, aroma has some vegetation and citrus, taste has some butter, light citrus, zero carbs, very disappointing.
