Many thanks to Erzengel for sharing! A black beer with a mid-sized good lasting tan head. Aroma of sweet dark malt, mild roasted malt, wood, coffee, vanilla. Taste of sweet chocolate, vanilla, cookies, strong roasted malt, a bit sticky, fascinating stuff!

2011 vintage. Dark deep caramel. Fresh malty, deep and rich. Dried fruit, dark plums with deep and burned caramel. Spices, deep and rich, warming with a fantastic layer of wood in between. Extreme round and smooth, caramel, fresh and round, extreme deep in the aftertaste with dark molasses, not too sweetish, lots of wood fitting in fantastic, round and deep. Excellent brew, well balanced, fantastic deep, rich and full of dark aroma.

12 fl oz can from beer army outpost, new bern, nc, $2.40. canned on 04/28/15, bought in summer 2015, so a bit past its prime. pours a cloudy amber with a medium off-white head. aroma of some peaches in the beginning, then caramel, spruce, sweet malts. flavour of spruce, biscuit, caramel, leaves, kumquat, slight citrus zest. bittersweet finish. very straightforward and ipa-ish, probably some hop nuances got watered down after all this time.

5 week old can > weizenbock glass A: Thickly hazy look of pale gold with a short head that fell fast to a ring and cap, leaving intricate lacing. S: Nice bright citrus/orange scent with a hint of wheat. T: Jarringly tart at first with sour orange flesh and bitter pith. Oatmeal is subtle but works nicely to cut the sweetness that might otherwise dominate the finish. M: Not quite silky or velvety but smooth in texture and light for the ABV. O: Much better than I expected though many may find it lacking malt balance.

Bottle from Harris Teeter, Hampstead, North Carolina. Yellow-gold with a carbonation and next to no head. Its Belgian styling is best in its nose, with a slightly more lager feel in taste. Its spiciness is evident but light.
