hazy orange to bright amber colour, medium sized creamy yellowish off-white head; aroma of floral honey, grape, caramel and slight orange or rather marmalade notes; taste of honey, burnt toast notes, caramel, marmalade and hints of raisins and dried plum; not bad at all!

Bottle from Carrefour in Menton. A supremely fresh beer which verges on not being a beer anymore really, almost an alcoholic lemonade. Really strong lemon and orange support which makes this beer truly Menton.

330ml bottle, batch 100, kindly shared by Finn. Pours a clear golden body under a pearl white head, some of it remaining. Perfumed soapy aroma. Mid-sweet, perfumed hoppy taste added by ginger. Lemony hints to the ending. Medium to thin bodied. Unvaried, but possible to drink (at Finns, Tromsø 27.05.2014).

Flaske 0,33l fra Brune Rousse Houblon, Nice. Batch 100. Delt med Rune under rateseanse på Nerstranda 27 Mai 14. Veldig lys gylden. Lavt luftig skum. Aromaen var overraskende. Parfymert spearmint. Smaken frisk. Litt ingefær. Toner ut med litt mer ingefær. Uklar siste kvelling. Ikke så verst.

Bottle 330ml. clear glass.[ Courtesy of The Aarhus Crew ]. Unclear medium amber orange colour with a small, virtually no lacing, fully diminishing head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, caramel, sweet mat, sugary, light to moderate yeasty, spicy notes. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average duration, caraeml, yeast. IMO a bit messy ! Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20130406]

33cl Bottle BBD 15 Oct 2013, poured into a ’Palm’ bulbous glass at home on 7 June 2013. A present from Nice. Lovely dark brown body with a deep and full head of tan coloured foam. I later poured the sediment into the glass and it still looked fine: a bit cloudy but fine. The nose was malty sweet: raisins and other dried fruits (plums too). Reminded me of ’Vimto’ to be honest (a UK version of a coke like drink). The taste follows the aroma: sweet and malty with a fruity undertone. Mild nut flavours in the mix as well. Smooth, rich and a pleasant surprise: wasn’t expecting such an interesting beer to hidden away in the bottle.

33cl bottle: out of date by 3 months when poured into a ’Palm’ badged tulip on 26 Apr 2013 (at home). Misty rather than cloudy: reddy amber hue to the body, no head worthy of the name, just a weak collar and mini wisp in the middle of the glass. Not much sediment left the bottle, but it was still not a clear beer. Yeasty and sweet aroma, mixed bunch of floral spices also in the nose. The taste followed the smells: yeasty and sweet with fruity, floral undertones. Malty more than hoppy, sweet rather than dry, flavoursome, not bland: in short fairly interesting and better than I expected. I like the sweeter brews.
