Cask at the Clarendon Arms, Cambridge. Clear, light honey brown. Very little head. Scent of nuts, toast, bit of wood shavings. Taste is a crisp, clean bitter with a slight hoppy bite in the finish. Body is fuller than would be expected. This is a very very good basic bitter. Surprisingly good. And that’s my 46 English counties, done in style.

Draft at the Great British Beer Festival 2014, Day 3 - London. Pours clear copper-ruby with a frothy beige head. Very nice beer, with good toasted malts, orange rind, wholegrain toast. Light bodied with fine carbonation; great condition. Lovely finish, well balanced, with mild earthy bitterness, more toasted grains, some dried caramel sweetness. Very good stuff.

Bottle on a 76 year old train thanks to LKS, IOW Jolly Day, 24/08/14. Clear golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is bready, spice, dark fruit, light roastings, caramel, yeast esters. Taste comprises Belgian yeast esters, pears, light spice, fruit loaf, sweetish notes, dark fruits, dates. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, hint of booze in the close. Ok Belgo offering, not too sweet. SHV ?!? Nah - no need to tar this one with that crappy catch all ... Belgian Ale.

Nose is on the thin side, corn bread, cereals, pale malt, grain. The taste picks up the pace a little with light vanilla, faint hops, biscuit, mellow fruits.
