Bottled. A hazy dark brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt, while the flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of alcohol.

Reddish copper, foaming fizzy head. Aroma is restrained but hints at nuts and caramel. Maybe a little spicy gingerbread or candied citrus? Flavor is light and bready with a hint of rye and a little alcohol burn at the finish, which is kinda rough and maybe even a tad fuselly.

Boy aint this a weird beer. Poured a dark dark brown, very near opaque. Moderate foamy head. Aroma is plenty weird, notes of soy sauce, meat, molasses, maple liquer, we are talking SATB territory here. Mercifully the flavor is different with a def bitter chocolate tone dominating the affair. Medium bodied, overall sweet profile with a chocolate and caramel finish. Light herbal character rises in the finish too. Fairly smooth and rounded mouthfeel, pretty easy drinking for an odd duck.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a small white head and a hazy golden body. Aroma of chestnuts, funk and sourness. Taste is chestnuts, some fruit, caramel and barnyard. Fizzy carbonation and waterlike mouthfeel.

Bottle at home ... The chestnuts make this sound interesting ... so lets go and see ... First off the its a nice red copper colour ... big short lived loose foam head ... odd watery yeasty possible hint of chestnut nose ... woody nutty ... theres definite heavy chestnut tones ... quite a lot of toffee malt ... medium body thats a bt overcarbonated ... the chestnut lingers long but is a bit bitter ... ITs ok, quite a full flavour ... but its not gonna win any prizes from me, though its drinkable enough

No head; orange-golden beer. "Interesting" nose, with musk, and stale or rancid hazelnut oil. Again hazelnut oil, if less rancid, in the taste. Toffee, not really sweet. Thin bodied, very slick all the same. Hazelnut oil (or the honey?) wrecks it, if not completely. OK to say that a beer is perfect for roast and cakes, but it ought to be kept drinkable on its own as well.

Good white head; deep red-chestnut beer. Brett nose! Lactic, wood, but nice, if a tad wet dog; leather. Astringent taste, slightly sourish, woodstripper... Mouthfeel is too astringent, off-putting. Nice nose, pity about the rest. ALTBIER? Try selling this, in this form, in Düsseldorf. You’ll get taken in.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Midlothian on 08/05/2008. Dark black body with a small tan head. Chocolate fruit, light sour and caramel aroma. Big sweet chocolate flavor, sugar, fruit hints. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation. Very creamy.
