Can courtesy of HuskerTan, thank you! Dark cloudy amber color, fluffy tan head. Very earthy, almost dirty aroma. Taste is floral bittersweet caramel. Messy.

Draft. A- Smokey, subtle meats, roasty. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Smokey, meaty, musty, dirt, cocoa. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, smokey finish. O- At first I was debating whether this would be more of a smoked beer or a porter. Well it didn’t take long to find out that this was indeed a smoked beer. Huge on the smoke in every aspect. A bit meaty in some areas but not overwhelming. Almost had a dusty/dirty taste to it at times, but overall a nice change from what Thunderhead normally does.

Draft. A- Perfume, spices. A- Yellow color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Honey, spices, subtle alcohol, oranges. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- This year they brewed this beer as a braggot with honey which basically means a mead. It wasn’t bad. Lots of spice and perfume in the nose and the palate which a bit of orange juice towards the end.

Draft. A- Lemon, subtle funk, slightly sour. A- Yellow color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Slightly sour, wheat, lemon, subtle tartness. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- So they say this is 10%. They even have a 2 pint limit on it. I’ve never seen or had a sour with such a high ABV and couldn’t taste it but sure enough after 2 pints I could feel it. I don’t know how they hide it. The funk and tartness was subtle but there. Good for someone just getting into the style. Which is kind of the intent here I think. Had this next to the 2015 version, today (so it had a year of age on it) Overall not bad. I imagine it would have been better fresh.

Draft. A- Gourds, subtle pumpkin, spices, subtle pine. A- Orange color, cloudy liquid, off white head. T- Gourds, subtle spice, subtle pine, wheat. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, unbalanced finish. O- Not much IPA and not much pumpkin. I guess they cancel each other out and create a bland beer. You get a bit of bitter pine and a bit of spiced gourd but otherwise this is one to leave.

The Travlr tasting at ChrisO’s. Thanks to Gene for all the beers and Chris for hosting. Hazy dark amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy with good fine carbonation. Sweet creamy malts. Sweet esters. Trace of thin dark chocolate. Light finish. Passable.

Draft. A- Peppers. A- Yellow color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Peppers. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, veggie finish. O- I expected a black pepper kind of beer since they already have a jalapeno ale. Nope. Basically this is like they picked a variety of peppers in their garden at the end of the season and just threw them all in the brew pot. Not spicy at all but lots of pepper and nothing else. Heartburn in a glass.

Draft. A- Soapy, perfume, lavender, pine, evergreen trees. A- Amber color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Lavender, bitter, pine. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- Lots of pine, but hey, just look at the name. Not a lot else going on. Surprisingly smooth and decent taste but not much complexity at all. Very little citrus or caramel or anything.
