Draft pour pint at stop #1 of my on foot Seattle tour. Research for an upcoming video documented experience. I am thankful for the wealth of beer places and breweries that are open at 11 on a Monday/Holiday. Listed at 5.4. Cola black pour with a cream foam head and lace. Sugar sweet, light roast aroma. Flavor is rich chocolate, soft roast, and a bit watery. Has a decent hop presence as well. If I didn’t know better I could mix this up with a CDA, but the styles seem to overlap in certain cases anyway. Overall a tasty beer, but a little watery and I’m missing the bold porter factor that I love. Still a good beer though.

2014 Bottle, poured as #1 of 6 in the wheat wine blind tasting. Pours a dark copper color with no head. Thick body. Caramel sweet malt aroma. Flavor is rye like, lingering booze. My guess was a much higher abv. Sipper barleywine for sure, but not bad at all.

Draft pour pint during my first ever visit to Latona Pub, as part of their Bourbon Barrel Fest. Where was I when this started? Probably drinking a beer somewhere else. Pours jet black with a tan foam swirl head. Bourbon headlined aroma with coffee beans, dough, and a cocoa presence. Less roast, more chocolate. Thick creamy body to it, full of chocolate flavor, and a bold dark chocolate finish. Coffee and chocolate dominant. Another Seattle flavored beer. I love it. Big time beer here. Intended.

Bottle, pours a hazy bronzeish orange with a tiny head. Aroma brings out caramel malts and some apples. Flavour is along the same lines, with caramel, light apples, and bready malt. Well-balanced, with a good amount of sweetness. Good stuff.

On nitro tap at WA Winter Beer Festival 2015, pours black with a medium creamy tan head. Aroma brings out creamy notes of lactose, some roast and a little coffee. Flavour is creamy and smooth, with lactose, roasted malt and bitter cocoa. Fairly prominent bitterness on the finish. Solid stuff.

Cask pour pint at Special Brews. Pours a copper color with a ton of foam head and lace. Very mild hops aroma. Medium body with some grassy hops, and minimum bitterness. For whatever reason, this was an average IPA for me. Nothing special, but not bad either. I’ll try again on a regular tap and rerate.
