Good yellow-brown head; coca-cola coloured beer. Oxydized, portwine-like nose, vinous, dark raisins, pearester. Roastedd, but mainly sweet beer; very, very ’t Anker-like; maybe just a tad more bitterness (but not distinctive), in the finish. Very velvety, alcoholic/warming MF. This is some kind of Gouden Carolus clone to me. But not better.

Cloudy blond color. The yeast produced some flowery and apple aroma. It has a slim body, with some malt and a flowery touch. In the end, maybe a bit of diacetyl. Not exciting.

Cloudy light brown color. Light aroma, fresh and spicy; same for the flavor; refreshing but not special.

Golden color, small head. Very nice malt and cereals aroma, deep, sweetish medium body, with good malt flavor and very strong biterness, light residual sweetness that balances well. Very good.
2008-12-24, batch 20, about 2 years old, 7-4-7-4-14=36
Hazy deep blond color; big frothy head. Nice Belgian aroma. It has a strong, dry malt flavor, spicy (coriander), with strong bitterness, light bitter oranges and pine needles, some Belgian yeast character too. Probably with the age it loses the freshness (it’s the same batch as my first tasting) and the bitterness is more evident.
2008-05-30, blind tasting at Yespr’s, 6-3-4-2-9=24
Cloudy deep blond color; big head. It has some hoppy aroma. It has a dryish mouthfeel, with some malt and strong bitterness, reminding me too much the Pilsners brewed with kits (malt extracts and possibly powedered hop); and there is too much yeast; the final therefore, between yeast and bitterness, is unpleasant.
2007-03-23, bottle at Salone Della Birra Artigianale e di QualitĂ , Milan, 8-5-8-5-17=43
Not an IPA, but a Belgian Ale, with hops from Poperinge
Cloudy golden color; creamy head. Delicate aroma, fruity, pears, orange, flowers. Even if the alcohol rate is low, it has a good malt flavor, lasting, with an interesting hopping, and still some sweetness till the end. Excellent!
My favorite beer at the Beerfest and the biggest surprise; brewed with the perfect Belgian art, a masterpiece from the West Flanders. And it’s a real pleasure talking to the brewmaster!

Muddy amber color, creamy head. The aroma is quite perfumy, with honey and caramel and nuts; the caramel flavor is quite dry; it has a good body strength; what the yeast made good for the aroma, didn’t work for the flavor, a bit too harsh. Quite strong bitterness and high alcohol perception.

Abbey Dubbel
Beautiful red-amber color; thick head. Aroma of sugars, herbal hops, chocolate. Medium body, caramel with enough roasted malt and medium malt acidity and chocolate.

Cloudy chestnut color. It would be a simple Belgian Dubbel, with the caramel flavor but a bit on the dry side and without the yeast special touch. There is a touch of honey. Low bitterness. This is becoming quite common in the Italian panorama.

Brown color; creamy head. Alcoholic nose, caramel, nuts, fruit kernels. Good body structure, good malt and roasted malt crescendo. Low bitterness; traces of liquorice.

Hazy blond color. The aroma has some fruits and esters. It has a dry mouhfeel, residual sweetness, and light fruitiness from the yeast; low bitterness; very simple. Uninteresting.

Cloudy blond color. Some apple aroma. Medium strong body, but somehow dry mouthfeel for this Belgian Strong Ale, with quite strong bitterness and traces of apple too.

Small head; fully hazy orange beer. Bready, slightly spicey nose, a bit of ketone-like smell, as well as vanilla. Buttery, maybe a bit of diacetyl but surely coriander - and curaçao peel. Buttery MF, slick, wheat-like. Very mediocre beer.
