Description
The Yeastie Boys - Stu McKinlay and Sam Possenniskie are the dynamic duo of New Zealand's craft beer scene. They burst onto the beer landscape with two trophies for their flagship porter Pot Kettle Black at BrewNZ 2009 and have remained firmly ensconced there ever since.
Yeastie Boys is a deliciously irreverent brewing company and, quite possibly, the world's smallest multinational. We take beer and people very seriously... everything else is unmitigated fun!
We brew in opposite ends of the earth - New Zealand, Australia & United Kingdom - to keep the world in good beer balance.

Can from lowcostbeer, consumed 1 month before BBE. Light hazy amber-gold with moderate sized white head, nice lasting top. Aroma of stone fruits, orange, grapefruit, some earthiness. Taste is quite mellow with caramel, orange, grapefruit and some pine resin, modest bitterness for the style. Nice smooth body and soft carbonation. More of a mellow take on a West Coast IPA but very pleasant to drink.

Can from lowcostbeer, consumed 2 months before BBE. Hazy orange gold with two finger white head, nice retention. Aroma of mango, apricot, pine. Taste has a sharp sweet resinous fruitiness, pine and earthy bitterness, boozy. Full bodied, smooth. It's decent for the style.

Can from lowcostbeer, consumed 1 week past BBE. Pours black with moderate sized beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, light coffee notes, some green and floral hop. Taste is very roasty with coffee bitterness, tangy blackcurrant, flora, pine resin. Medium bodied, semi-dry. Not the most hoppy for the style. Its halfway between a stout and a Black IPA. Good beer though.

Can from lowcostbeer, consumed 3 months past BBE. Slightly murky ruby-brown with small but decent looking off-white top but doesn't last. Aroma of chocolate, malt, toffee, grass. Taste is malty and toffee noted, chocolate nibs, light tangy, coffee and grassy bitterness. Medium bodied with a nice slickness that goes well here. A well made tasty if slightly standard noted brown ale.

330ml can from Honest Brew. Look - near black, small beige head, swirled retention and clear lacing. Nose - light roasted malts, chocolate, citrus and berries on the hop. Taste - sweet toasted malts, chocolate, citrus, grapefruit, hint of berries, slight sourness. Palate - medium body, slightly frothy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Impressive.
