bottle - Pours dark amber and smells strongly of caramel malt. The taste is also of sweet caramel malt but unfortunately includes an off sour flavor that suggests infection. This brew still manages to be medium bodied, but what good be a tasty scotch ale is badly flawed by the sourness.

12 ounce bottle from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, MI. Opened 9/1/10. Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee and diacetyl. The taste is cherries, toffee, diacetyl, raisins, caramel. Medium bodied. Not bad, but a little bit off.

Half gallon growler courtesy of my little sister Lori! Thanks again. Pours clear ruby mahogany with thin white head. The aroma is sweet apple, sugary grapes, some beats, ripe rich plums and some yeast. The taste is nice and sweet with red apples, dates, plums, sugar soaked raisins, some beat sugar and a mild level of spicy yeastiness. Nice offering.

On tap at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Deep murky red-brown body, thick tight cream tan head. Estery nose, bananas and clove in addition to brown sugar and toasty malts. Complex body, with notes of clove, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, dark fruit, grapes, and bubblegum, almost cola-like, quite leathery/salty, with modest alcohol presence. Quite enjoyable.

Bottle thanks to my wife!: Poured a dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is light on the nose roasted malt and barley. The taste is a mix of grassiness and woodlands, very earthy and roasted malt. Reminds me of taste of hunting in dank dark woods.

On tap. Poured black with a thick yellowish brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of light chocolate notes that clashed a bit with a honey night. Flavor began sweet from the honey but transfered to more of a milk chocolate finish.

Bottle thanks to my wife: Poured a orange copper color with a off white thin head. Aroma is sweet malts and hops. Taste is rich in malt and yet suttle hoppiness keep the tongue alive.
