Tap at the brewpub - clear gold - nicely executed, clean example of the style - perhaps a bit drier than usual for the style, but the clean malt richness is certainly there, and the saaz character is spicy, grassy, and pleasant - a slight bit of acidity to it which makes it bit less smooth than it ought to be, but still quite good.

On tap at Town Hall. Pours black with a deep brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma is full of raspberries with bitter dark grains and a hint of roasted malts. Flavor starts with some bitter dark grains and has growing raspberry with a touch of roasted malts.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber orange with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a really nice apricot note with bitter citrus and light wheat underlying. Flavor starts with sweet apricot but finish is more bitter with citrus and backing wheat.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a creamy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of dark grains and roasted malts with a bit of bitter coffee. Flavor is full of dark grains and coffee with some roasted malts backing as well as a light mustiness.

Growler. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong roasted malt, chocolate, wood. Medium mouth feel, similar flavors to nose, very sweet, light vanilla, good.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy yellow with a touch of orange and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of clove with some sweet wheat and a bit of bread. Flavor has a nice combination of wheat and clove with a nice light earthiness.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber with an off-white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has crisp citrus with some grass and a strong grain backbone. Flavor has lots of grain and some sweet grass up front with a growing pine and bitter citrus note.
