Several pints via a growler kindly given to me by my sister and brother in law. The pour is a mostly clear copper golden with a one inch white head. The aroma is resin hop, pilsner and crystal malt. Fresh, nicely balanced nose. The taste is resin dank hop, some crystal malt resin, and finishes dry with light floral sweet malt. There is also some sweet herbal in the aftertaste which is a little odd. The palate is light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, and the dry resin herbal finish. Nice one, smelled great, really easy drinking.

Courtesy of dcschiller. It pours clear copper with tan head. The aroma is very barleywine like with muted pine hops rolling into sticky malts, vanilla and then bourbon like booze. The taste is nice with pine hops softened up by vanilla and molasses sweetness and then rolling slowly toward a moderate level of smooth bourbon booze. Lovin’ this! Thanks Dave.

On tap at Winterfest 2012. Well hopped all around in the flavor and aroma. Bitter with citrus hops in the flavor. Gold color.

Pitch black color, oily. Wonderful aroma, rich chocolate, roasted nuts, tobacco, leather, a hint of smoke and vanilla, phenol; powerful and persistent. Thick body, the mouthfeel is quite oily; strong flavor of chocolate and roasted malt, with an evident presence of liquorice; strong vanilla too, from the oak; some molasses; it’s not very sweet, the body is thinner in the end, when the alcohol is stronger, warming; roasted nuts final; if just one thing, the liquorice is too strong.
