Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours dark hazy brown with light mocha head. The nose is sweet malts, coffee beans, molasses and brown sugar. The taste is pretty full with rich coffee goodness followed by a note of roasted malts, sugar sweetness and a bit of molasses. Into the finish hops show up along with lingering malt roastiness. Wow, I enjoyed this one.

Pours hazy amber into a shaker. Beige head quickly recedes to skim surface. Sour caramel aromas. Tastes like the aroma with a mild hop finish.

Pours dark mahogany into a snifter. Off-white head recedes leaving no lacing. Dark caramel malt aromas. Crisp dark caramel with slight chocolate upfront. Mild hop finish.

Courtesy of BA trade. Pours amber, tan head.Aroma fruity - raspberry, hoppy and just overall weak aroma. Taste of raspberry and hops, lingering tartness of the raspberries with a light hoppy finish. No idea how this one falls into the barleywine category as pet the label.

OK Sea Bass, what did you bring us here. The bottle says barleywine, ratebeer has strong ale in the title and it has been entered as a fruit beer style. What the hell is it? Diving in I may find out. Pours deep clear copper with thin near tan head. The aroma is big hits of raspberry extract with just hints of malt and no barleywine fruity esters. The taste is big in raspberry goodness. The raspberry can be pretty darn tasty from time to time if you choose to ignore the pure extract nature of the flavor. It is nearly sickeningly sweet with none of the tartness that comes with the actual fruit. I get just a hint of malt in the background. This one disappoints on all levels. It is hardly even a fruit beer since it didnt taste like actual fruit was use during brewing. Putting barleywine on the label is just criminal.

at Honest Town BrewPub–on tap-pours an off white head that laces and amber color. Aroma is slightly sweet medium malt. Taste is sweet medium malt-caramel, secondary floral hops. Doesn’t quite mesh.

Cask (gravity) @ Great British Beer Festival, GBBF 2008, Earls Court, London, England SW5.Clear dark brown color with a small, virtually none appearance, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, cream, moderate hoppy, pine, graoefruity. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - smooth, carbonation is flat. Very nice. (080808)

Muddy brown color that signifies this beer as rather unfiltered. Tan head. Caramel and malt aroma and the taste is pretty much the same. The alcohol is covered up pretty well by the hearty malts in this beer. Kind creamy and smooth.
