On tap at Yaletown, pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Nose brings out toasted bready malt, caramel and a little brown sugar. Flavour is along the same lines, with caramel malt, brown sugar, light toffee and bready malt. Nice and malty, with good balance. Very good.

On nitro tap at Yaletown, pours black with a medium creamy tan head. Aroma brings out a very hearty roasted malt character, with some oatmeal and light dry coffee. Flavour is very hearty, with big oatmeal and roasted malt upfront, transitioning to a bitter coffee finish. Robust indeed, with a thick, hearty mouthfeel. Very nicely done.

On tap at Yaletown, pours a clear copper golden with a small beige head. Aroma brings out traces of butter all over, not detecting much else. Flavour is fruity, with the diacetyl slightly more subdued, followed by fruity hops and some pine. The diacetyl is thankfully much more nuanced on the flavour, but it's still noticeable and off-putting to my sensitive palate. This needs cleaning up.

On tap at Yaletown, pours a clear copper golden with a small off-white head. Aroma reveals herbal notes, toasted nuts and biscuity malt. Flavour is robust, with sweet bready malt, light herbal notes and toasted nuts. Sweet and malty without anywhere close to cloying. Robust and with lots of character. Really good.

On tap at Yaletown, pours a clear copper blonde with a small white head. Aroma reveals piney hops and biscuity malt in good balance. Flavour is crisp, with a nice dry piney hop character and a crisp crackery malt backbone. Dry and robust, with just enough hop oils on the palate. Excellent.

Some resins and grapes, dry, holding up quite well.

2017-11-24, draught at the brewpub, 6-4-8-4-15=37
Golden color, clean. Mild fruity hops aroma, I sense traces of butter too. Robust flavor, moderately sweet but lean, clean malt base, the hops are mostly resiny, some orange and orange peel, cedar, traces of mango, no butter luckily, and no alcohol evidence.
Not the cleanest, but it's quite good.

Hazy golden color. Robust example for the style, it has a very good malt flavor, malt depth, some hay and light biscuits, the moderate sweetness is also pleasing, and it's balanced by a decent bitterness level; delicate Lager esters complement this beer; maybe a bit pithy in the final, but can't complain when they brew a Heller Bock with enough character.

Today I find more earthy notes, less chocolate, less body.

2017-11-02, draught at the brewery; on nitro, 6-4-8-3-15=36
Black color with creamy head. Aroma of wet cardboard. The mouthfeel is soft, smooth, it has a very good chocolate flavor, roasted malts, roasted nuts, off-dry. The nitro seem to reduce the ashy character, but I also wish I can try some day a sweeter and bolder version because there seem to be some good malt here.
Very good.

Hazy golden color. The aroma is delicate, flowery hops; the flavor is more expressive, with a crisp and dry mouthfeel, biscuity malts, then resiny hops, some bitter orange peel, also a bit of pithy chicory bitterness in the final. It could be more expressive and fruity, but at least it's a modern IPA.
Nice.

Hazy dark blond color. Resiny hop aroma, and biscuity malts. Crisp malt base, lightly biscuity, with robust hopping, strong hop resins, mild piney character, citrus zest, but also some pithy bitterness in the final.
Good, modern, although the biscuity character is not too exciting.
