An enjoyable porter with a lot more sweetness than most. There is a bit of a metallic aroma but it gives way to butterscotch and dry wheat biscuit. The butterscotch continues on tasting with a little chocolate, pine and apricot.

At the brewpub. Slightly hazy amber. Thin head fruity nose, grainy-fruity taste of overripe fruity hops.

Pours dark amber with a quickly fading sudsy head.Nose shows very soft floral hops, hints of banana, doughy wheat and a little sweet malt. Vaguely hefe-like.Flavours instead include some nice bready malt but unfortunately a certain dirty, cidery character overshadows it. Carbonation is unnecessarily high.

From a 330ml bottle on 9/2/2011. The aroma is passionfruit, citrus fruit (oranges), lots of caramel malt, and a little musk. In the mouth, sweet caramel malt dominates, with some lemon notes. The hops balance things out nicely. This is a very enjoyable APA (not an English Pale as described).

Bottled. An unclear brown beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, and prunes as well as hints of smoke. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, metal, caramel, and over rope fruits, leading to a dry and bitter finish - which finishes the beer off in a boring way.

Bottle. Clear dark red/ brown with a beige head. Rich aroma of dark and dried fruits, toffee, flowers, chocolate. Taste is also very rich with berries, currants, blackcurrants and toffee. Drying finish has floral hops but no overt bitterness. I wished for either more complex flavours or something to lighten its touch.
