Arnaud renovated an old barn and installed brewing tanks: the brand and the workshop were born! He immediately associated with a friend they met in Paris and they decide to embark on the adventure together by making artisanal French beers in the Sens region, in the countryside and with the barley grown by his parents.
It is in this natural break that we find the Popihn brewery workshop, with the very latest brewing equipment. They readily admit to being influenced and inspired by the breweries of the United States and England.
Very aromatic although a little bitter IPAs which give pride of place to exotic fruits (lemon, guava, mango, grapefruit!) And sour drinks that are not very developed in France! This is their hallmark: originality and innovation, but each time with the highest quality! Their daring paid off: they are now key players in these “niche” markets!

Intensely sour and heavy with cherries, raspberries, redcurrant, earthiness and hints of acidic vibes. Quite heavy

Bottle shared for Sjogro's birthday. Very dark brown with dark brown head. Chocolate, rum, dusty, dry oak, vanilla, peat, earthy. Medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied. OK.

pours very dark brown, settles nearly black, with a light brown small head that leaves a film behind.
Aroma is heavy on roasted malts, then quite some wood and also some vanilla. aroma is like a very old wooden house out in the sun for the entire summer, soaked in imp. stout. well blended and rounded. vanilla clearly noticeable. but not as a sharp artificial thing that was added.
flavor is roasted malts, a lot of flavors from wood, the good stuff, salt, charred wood, some funky complexity from overexposure to wood, vanilla practically drowned in the heavy flavors of wood and roasted malts. This flavor is VERY barrel aged in the flavor. they took it off just before it went nuts. very complex, lots to explore.
After Göteborgsvarvet.

Bottle.
As Imperial Stout Barrel Aged Blend Poivre De Kampot 12%
Dark brown but not black. light brown smooth head.
malty and roasted malty aroma, dark toffee, gunpowder and perhaps faint smoked malts and charred wood. quite rounded and balanced given the charred and smoked fainter notes. good blend. reminds me of limfjordsporter, but a more soft version.
Flavor is an excellent mix of roasted malts, smoked malt, charred wood, salty notes. The wood brings a lot of flamed barrel notes but not many weird off flavors - the roasted malts are heavy enough to balance. The smokiness never goes overboard but remains balanced. the alc. is well hidden and not at all in the way. very good for its kind.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. BA supported, roasty and chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, some cocoa, Cognac, woody overtones. Taste is slightly BA dominated with roasty, dark malty basis, some residual sweetness, notes of dark chocolate, chocolate sauce, notes of Cognac, minimally tannic, woody overtones; well hidden alcohol.
Oily texture, smooth and soft, silky, minimally cloying, simultaneously minimally dry palate, fine, soft, creamy carbonation.
Seemingly light, minimally disharmonious, not overly complex - okay-ish sipper.

Gold with a frothy, white head. Faintly floral and grainy with passion fruit undertones. Taste is mildly bitter throughout. Body to the light side of medium, mild carbonation. A bit dull. Ok.

pours a dark brown but far from black , light brown smooth head.
aroma of mushrooms, seriously barrel (over aged) stout, glue, nails, wood.. did the barrel dissolve in the beer? - alc. is noticeable in and of itself, also a decent dose of roasted malts. overall a pretty complex and in fact interesting sipper i think. They migh'tve overdone the barrel aging though.
flavor is roasted malty, finer notes of vanilla and oak, perhaps a tiny bit of coffee in the best way it could present itself, licorice, salty licorice, charred wood. pretty impressive barrel aging flavor - it has taken lots of flavor from wood, but unlike the aroma it is not over the top. flavor is really good. very mellow and balanced but still sharp.
