Description
Established in 2006, with a 3 vessel 30 bbl brewery originally capable of making over 5,000 bbls (now upwards of 15,000 bbls) of beer each year, the new brewing company set about shaking up the craft brewing world with two distinct beer lines: the aggressive San Diego / West Coast styles under the Port Brewing label, and a Belgian-inspired series carrying the “Lost Abbey” name.
Today Port Brewing continues at the vanguard of craft brewing, ranked as one of the top 10 new breweries in the nation by both industry experts and enthusiasts alike, driven in large part by its extraordinary Lost Abbey beers and a library of 1000+ plus oak bourbon, brandy, sherry, and wine barrels that comprise one of the most remarkable barrel-aging programs for a craft brewery of any size.

1st off.............man i love american version of euro strong lagers!!!! Great hazy orange pour with a wicked nose of hops, sweet caramel, caramelized apples, and sweet malt. Flavour is very sweet, but super satisfying. Lots of nice hops, and more of the wicked caramel apples, and malt. Such a chewy tasty beer. I love it!

jet black pour, but not as thick as i was expecting, but still quite nice. Not much carbonation, and little to no head. Aroma is loaded with bourbon, and it adds such a wicked vanilla to the aroma. Lots of chocolate, espresso, molasses, raisins, and dark fruit. Flavour is very very smooth, and a tad boozey. Again, loads of bourbon vanilla notes along with more of the same from the aroma. Just an amazing sipper of a beer, i loved it.

650ml bottle from dsnowden! Wow, i’m excited, thank you!
Pour BLACK, looks like an imperial stout. Soft beige head, nice lacing on the inside of my snifter. Aroma is smokey, and chocolatey. The hops come through, and add a nice dimension. There are also some coffee notes with some slight fruitness.......plums, and figs. Flavour is awesome! The hops are there, along with a wicked coffee taste, that finished with a great bitter chocolate that lasts forever. This is like liquid chocolate/coffee brownie, with hints of molasses. The mouthfeel is NUTS! Viscosity is dead on, this stuff is THICK. It just coats my mouth, after i swallow i can still feel the coating in the top of my mouth. The 10% is nowhere to be found, What an amazing beer, i can’t find anything wrong with it.

very dark brown pour, not much of a head, quite small, and brownish. Aroma is quite malty, with some sweet chocolate, and a touch of alcohol. Flavour is very malty, and roasty, with a little coffee, and a little funk.....like a bit of bret? odd.....the fnk is interesting, nie stuff, and extremely drinkable!

Draft. Blackish beer with a tan head. Chocolate aroma. Chocolate and light citrus flavor. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Chocolate and light citrus linger. More chocolate than hoppy.

Deliciously fruity aroma of citrus, tropical fruits, peach, some malt, resin, caramel, orange peel, floral hops. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a huge and long bitter finish. Wow, this is close to flawless for a DIPA. Perfect balance between huge amounts of fruits and resinous notes, with a potent bitterness to knock your socks off. I’d like to thank the cat who inspired this beer.

Aroma of citrus, orange, caramel, pine resin, floral notes, malt, big hops.. Flavour is moderate sweet with a bitter finish. One to sip on slowly, it doesn’t drink easily at all. Be prepared to take some time... Another thick and heavy hop bomb from Port Brewing.

Aroma of malt, caramel, ripe tropical fruits, citrus, grapefruit, orange, sugary notes, pine, huge hops. Flavour is moderate sweet with a long bitter finish. Impressive explosion of aroma and flavour. I couldn’t find the bottle date but I suspect it had aged a bit. Will look for fresher bottles... in the future!

Bottle at home. 2014 vintage. Aroma is lots of vanilla, chocolate, lots of Bourbon, malt, oak, dried dark fruits, raisins, liquorice, caramel. Flavour is sweet, body is full, a bit creamy texture. Massive Bourbon and vanilla, heavy but for its ABV this is fairly easily drinkable. Smooth and creamy, rich and complex. Delicious.
