Draught at the 2009 Central Japan Craft Beer Party. Light gold color with a beautiful tight, firm head. Very hoppy and citrus aroma, with light malt. Flavor also very hoppy, lightly malty, and very fruity. Good bitter hop finish. Slightly lacking in the malt department, but a very refreshing, nice package.

Hazy golden color. Big hoppy nose with a decent toasted malt underneath. Full, rich malty mouth, followed by big bitter finish. Very nice. 7/4/7/4/15=3.7 I cant believe I gave such a low score the first time I rated this. Sitting at home with this beer that was sitting outside in six degree temp. Perfectly thick chalk white head. The toasty character I mentioned above is there, but the mouth feel is almost creamy it is so smooth. Moderate amount of hops hit the back throat. Slowly, moderately bitter, but lingering bitter finish. This is what German Pils should be. Easily put this at 4.2 with this beer, but will average.

Bottle from the brewery. 7/3/8/4/16 Cloudy, light brown, murky or even muddy color with a tall, fine white head. Dark for a hefeweizen. Very buttery aroma of bananas, honey, some spice. Very sweet and fragrant nose. Smooth, creamy, buttery flavor, sweet but short of cloying, lots of banana and esters, a touch of citrus too. Finish is quite dry, with decent hops to round off the cake-like flavor, and again, a slight sour touch. I really like this beer, might not be able to drink tons, but it is creamy and flavorful.

Bottle from the brewery. Says that there are 8 different malts used. Opaque and black, with a medium, off-white head. Aroma of smoky dark malts, caramel, wood. Rich malt flavor, smoky, with caramel, some dark fruits, a touch of hops, and roasted malt. Sweet and creamy, and yet balanced by smoke and roasted bitterness. Medium palate, light carbonation, smooth. A nice, well-balanced package, slightly too sweet, but a good amount of smokiness and very flavorful. --- Beer merged from original tick of Smoked Ale (2008-2010) on 02 Sep 2008 at 07:47 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 10 | Overall - 8. Draught at the brewery. Copper color, aroma of caramel and amber malts, fruit, hops, a touch of citrus. Big caramel flavor, rather sweet, with chocolate, fruit, and a bit of citrus. Hops are rather restrained--a touch more would do well. Overall a very well made beer, though. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pale Ale on 01 Sep 2008 at 01:44 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. This bottle had been aging for 4-5 years. It came out tasting very much like an English Old Ale / Barley wine. Amazingly smooth, with molasses, caramel, dark fruit, and cidery notes. Slightly vegetal as well. Very complex malts.

Bottle at the Brewery. This seems to be a one-off celebrating their 20th anniversary. Medium amber color with a tall off-white head. Creamy aroma of amber malts, caramel, hops. Very smooth, nutty flavor or malt, caramel, chocolate, with good hops to balance. A very tasty lager, clean and crisp with good balance.

Bottle at the brewery. Medium to darm amber color with a low, frothy head. Bit malt aroma, sweet, with caramel, root beer, chocolate, and ginger. The flavor also is rich and malty, nutty, sweet but nor cloying, just enough understated hops. Good malt-centered beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Amber Ale on 31 Aug 2008 at 17:52 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Hazy golden color. Apples and oranges in the nose. The yeast is quit strange, but it seems to work. The body is light and the beer takes on a light passionfruit and melon character. wow, this is different. Dry passionfruit finish. Excellent.
