My buddy picked this up for me. I hate to be un-descriptive but there isn;t much to this idea. It is a bitter leafy type of hoppiness mixed up with a watery porter, almost. Its got some light cocoa and some sweet prune. But otherwise I would prefer a shining IPA or a good thick porter, not a blend of the two. Eh, its doable but I don’t get the idea of doing this as a style.

courtesy of BA trade. Pours black with mocha like head. Aroma dark fruits, roasted malts. Taste, malty, dark fruits, bites of chocolate and some mocha light hoppy finish with a bready mouthfeel. Just like others, sure did not know the beer was stout.

Deep dark brown (80% opaque) coloured body with a nice deep one cenitmetre tall tan head. This definitely looks more like a porter or brown ale than an IPA - but I guess that’s part of the fun? Aroma of malt (not terribly strong), hops, alcohol and a bit of flowers - nothing strong nor telling that this is in fact an IPA. Medium-bodied; Sharp metallic flavour up front, then fading to a little sweetness and some flowers - no hops nor malt, nor alcohol. Overall, this is simply not good - nothing IPA like nor flavourful. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington on 11-November-2008, sampled at home in [the real] Washington (D.C.) on 25-January-2009.

Bottle. Ruby-amber beer with a dark cream colored head. Light grapefruit, caramel, and light darker malts in the aroma. Grapefruit and caramel flavor with bready malts and light pine. Medium-plus bodied. Nice bitterness. Grapefruit, pine, and caramel linger. I can see this beer getting lower on another night, but it hit the spot on this one.

Bottle: Deep amber brown with a modest beige head. Soft and fruity nost with a thick roasty malt backbone. Tastes of dark fruit, roast, molasses,and a bit of cocoa. An easy drinker here, no need to fear the quilter.

Hazy dark brown with a small skin of a tan head. Some light roast and apple butter a bit of chocolate aroma. Thin light and sweet cocolate and pitted fruit. Soft carbonation and a light body.

Draught @ Beveridge Place Pub, Seattle. Pours a dark brown color with ruby hints. Has a longlasting creamy tan head. Sweetish malty caramel aroma with some roasted hints. Sweetish malty fruity caramel flavor with some cocoa hints. Sweetish malty finish with some hints of caramel and cocoa in the aftertaste.
