From a 375ml bottle on 23/10/2010. Has a very faint bready aroma. Quite sweet (a dash of banana maybe) with some mild hops evident. Like most Australian pales this is extremely bland, though it’s a little smoother and less chemical tasting than some its main competitors from CUB.

From a 375ml bottle on 13/6/2010. A nostalgic trip back to the days when I was a young man and would buy cases of Toohey’s Red because it was nearly always on special. I’m pretty sure it used to be more than 4%. So how does it scrub up now that I know what a really good beer tastes like? It’s actually not quite as bad as I thought it would be. It does actually have a discernible sweet, malty, grassy aroma. In the mouth, it’s sweet, a touch metallic, with a very slight hint of hops. There is worse out there, but my case buying days are over.

From a 345ml bottle on 16/5/2010. Difficult to detect any aroma. Taste wise, there is just a little bit of sweet malt. If there are any hops here, they’re well disguised. Beers which come in clear bottles tend to be very ordinary. This is no exception.

Bottle. Poured pale yellow with thin but lasting head. Moderate lacing. Thin aroma, a little malt breadiness, a very little citrus. Thin flavour, light body, some adjunct. Almost no finish. Not outstanding by any means

Bottled. A dark golden beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of dust, malt, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, mineral, cardboard, and straw, leading to a dry metallic finish. The body is light. Thanks fonefan for sharing.
