Description
Penn Brewery began brewing craft beer back in 1986, making us one of the earliest pioneers in the American craft movement. We started out brewing classic lagers and German beer styles, adhering to the strict quality standards of the 16th-century Bavarian Reinheitsgebot purity laws. As we’ve expanded our lineup in recent years to include IPAs and other contemporary styles like chocolate and pumpkin beers, we’ve stayed true to our quality craftsmanship, brewing all of our beers by hand with top-tier barley and hops. We’re proud to say that Penn beers have won a total of twenty Great American Beer Festival® and World Beer Cup® medals.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine - Naples, FL. Pours a crystal clear very dark amber color with a large khaki head and great retention. Great lacing too. Pretty pour. Caramel malt/ toffee aroma. Very clean and smooth caramel malt flavor with a crisp finish. Sweet, yet not overly sweet. Well balanced. Medium body and medium carbonation. Light bitterness. Great Marzen. Prost!

Had this at the penn brewery at pgh airport. Wow, quite expensive, allegheny county tax is BS! Cost was $14 and 4$ was tax, double BS! Clear with a darker pinkish orange eye. Nice fresh attractive fruity nose. Taste is very good, apple peels and a lightly tart cranberry backbone. Good level of co2, too. Not too sweet, actually a little dry; I'm so tired of domestic ciders that have lots of unfermented sugar and this has none. Middle is quite sassy. Just a little bit of character of my homemade ciders. Overall this is a refreshing departure form most sweet domestic ciders, well made and balanced for a change.

On tap at Penn Brewery in Pgh airport. Nice big draft with a darker clear pale eye and a creamy half inch head. Very faint pumpkin pie nose. Taste is pumpkin spice up front but unlike so many other over the top pumpkin beers this stuff is well balanced. It also does not come across as a shandy, no shandy attributes here. Yes, this is simply just a nicely made friendly easy going pumpkin lager. Good level of co2 in this. In the middle its so friendly and well behaved. On the finish it ends with a graceful impression of pumpkin. Just a little bit of nobble hops in the end. Probably one of the better pumpkin beers I've had in a long time. Thanks Penn!

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine. Pours a crystal clear bronze color with an off-white head and good retention. Fair lacing. Lightly sweet caramel malt aroma. The taste follows the nose: Pale malt flavor with some lightly sweet caramel notes in the finish. Good beer, but a little too much carbonation results in a slightly acidic finish. Medium-light body. Low bitterness.
