Heller, süß getreidiger Malzantrunk. Geringe Herbe, die auch so beibehalten wird. Spritzig, dennoch etwas trocken, zum Ende hin bitter werdend, geringer aber unterstützender Hopfen. 12/10/10/10//10

Deutlich karamelliger, etwas blecherner Malzantrunk. Zum Glück verschwindet die blecherne Komponente schnell, das Bier bleibt rund, wenn auch auf Dauer etwas monoton. Ok. 11/10/11/11//11

On tap @ the brewpub. Pours cloudy dark amber with stable light beige head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel, sugar, and yeast, with notes of butter. Sweetish, malty flavour, with notes of caramel and spices. Lingering bittersweet aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. A nice one.

Draught @ the brewpub. Pours murky, dirty copper brown with stable beige head. Clear aroma of malt amd yeast, with notes of caramel and hops. Sweetish flavour of malt and yeast, with sourish, grainy notes and touches of hops. Mild finish, with hints of roast. OK but nothing extraordinary.

Draught at the brewpub on a freezing Sunday in Jan 2014. Comes a dirty, murky, brown with a foaming head of white bubbles that stayed the distance. Malty molasses rule this brew, caramel notes mostly to my senses. Semi-sweet front and getting sweeter by the sip, the mini hop undertone just about keeping the sweetness in check. Medium bodied and pleasant enough all round.

On tap at the brewpub. Came a cloudy, golden orange with a full, foaming white head, it hung around a while. Aroma is lightly toasted bread with butter and sugar sprinkled on it, add just a thin floral and fruity confiture and you’ve got the smell. Flavour is also semi-sweet and toasty, the hop content giving some mild bitterness. OK more than fantastic, low carbonation for a Helles, but it suited the brew. Pleased we made the effort to find the brewpub.

0.3 litre on-tap at the brewpub on 19th Jan 2014: not on the menu but advertised on a board outside (which we missed): I asked for a seasonal brew and this is what the young lady brought me. Very Pilsner like in appearance and taste: light golden and bright with a white head that lacked staying power. Nice blend of hops and malts to give an even feel to the taste and aroma: the aroma being weak, again very like a normal Pilsner. Glad I asked for a different beer, it was slightly more interesting than the Helles and Dunkel I had before it: but only just.
