Description
As the oldest microbrewery in Florida, we are committed to two great challenges: satisfying our thirst for a well-crafted brew, and fulfilling the need to contribute to a strong, vibrant community. Dunedin Brewery is founded on values that make these goals a reality; like yourself, we value the integrity to stand for a cause, the stability gained from working hard, and the experience of connecting with good people—our dedicated staff of beer enthusiasts or our loyal guests. There are plenty of things to do in Florida—even plenty of things to do in Tampa Bay—but we strive to be more than just a place and more than just a beer; we strive to meet the challenge of creating an amazing city and an amazing craft brew. Sláinte!

Bottle from santa - very hazy golden pour, with a well-sustained, frothy head - very potent aroma of peach and apricot, reminding me right away of magic hat no. 9, then reminding me, after a few sniffs, of gerber baby food and the scent of certain sections of bath and body works - the flavor, unlike most beers, is pretty much freakin’ identical to the aroma, with a hint of soapiness and a touch of grainy malt - if I were on a beach in Florida in summertime, I might like this beer - but I’m in my apartment in NY, in god damn 20-ish degree weather, so it ain’t doin’ too much for me right now - however, I can’t mark it too low, because I really might enjoy this if the circumstances were different.

Bottle from santa - cloudy golden with a light ring of foam - a kind of sweet, fruity aroma, with lots of german hops coming through, and light herbal hints - somewhat tart, followed by hop bitterness, and a sweet floral flavor - this flowery quality, coupled with light herbal notes, reminds me a little too much of scented soaps - still, quite crisp and refreshing - a decent session beer.

Bottle from santa - dark brown pour, with substantial tan lace - very peaty, smokey, almost tobacco-like aroma, with a big leathery smell that I’m not sure I’m liking, and every few sniffs I’m greeted with wet ash, like a glass of water with dozens of cigarette butts floating in it - pretty tart up front for a porter, with only a light roasted malt quality - the smoke flavor is very off-putting at first, tasting less like smoked malt and more like burnt rubber, but once your palate adjusts it’s not quite so vile - however, the beer never quite loses that "stack of old tires set ablaze" kind of quality - I would pass on this one.

Bottle from santa - the bottle poured 50% foam - cloudy copper with lots of suspended particles - aroma of crystal malt, bread yeast, damp/earthiness - very subdued malts in this one, making it a bit thin on the palate - light biscuit/bread and some herbs - not a lot going on - pretty watery throughout, especially the finish.

Bottle from Santa - cloudy copper pour (hurray for unfiltered beer!), with a huge, frothy head - strong gingerbread aroma, with some doughy/yeasty hints - quite an earthy smell - quite sweet, but not overpoweringly so - the honey is quite evindent, and it mixes quite well with the ginger and nutmeg - bread/dough character from the yeast - it gets a nice zing from the orange zest near the end, before closing with a long finish of clover honey and herbal flavors - a nice change of pace from most Christmas beers.

On draft @ brewery. I was told this was their first big batch of this beer (7 barrels). Deep amber color with thin off white head. Wow, this beer smells like a cup of coffee. It is really just amazing. Almost like sticking your nose into a hand full of coffee grounds. I think behind the coffee aroma I can pick up roasted malts. The taste is full on coffee. I should be drinking this with eggs and bacon in the morning. Like the aroma I can just taste some roasted to burnt malts behind the coffee. Around the edges are some pine hop notes. Tasty beer full of coffee aroma and flavor.

16oz bottle. Clear copper color with thin off white head. The aroma is on the light side with mostly sweet malts. Nice flavor. Starts off sweet then hops enter the picture almost midway. A rich caramel and slight fruitiness build right at the midpoint and recede into a grainy pale malt character. Tasty beer.

kp’s Fest of 26 Thanks to Degarth for bringing this keg all the way from Florida. Hazy, light gold with a long lasting, sticky white head. Rich malt aroma spiced lightly with flowery hops. The flavor runs slightly towards the bitter side, with plenty of malt to balance this. Goes over the tongue smoothly with plenty of body. Nice hop finish.
