Tasting at Papsoe, corked bottle
Hazy red-amber color. The aroma is light, it has a strong caramel flavor, some residual sweetness, strong nutty character, strong bitterness; strong but not interesting for me, not even a Barley Wine IMO.

courtesy of Tampa finest, none other than tpd975. Pours orange with some nice golden/ light yellow lacing. Aroma is loaded with grains and caramel malts. Taste, more on the hop side while the malts remain at the forefront. A really amazing barleywine, over 10.1% so yeah, we have a real treat.

Huge thanks to tbd975 again. Greg you are amazing bringing this triple threat beer to the tasting, new state, barleywine tick and big beer tick. YES. Pours clear copper with gold edges and near tan thin ring of foam. The aroma has light amounts of crystal malts to go along with raisins, prunes and a bit of chemical alcohol heat. The taste has some thick maltiness moving into moderate dark fruity esters. Midway and to the finish caramel goodness and bits of vague hop bitterness rise up to be heard. There is just a mild sense of the big ABV. Nice. Will certainly shine with some more age.

Bottle: Poured a hazy golden color gueuze with a medium foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of oak notes with some funky barnyard notes and some green apple. Taste is a nice enough mix between some oak with green apple and light barnyard notes. I would have appreciated even more if funky barnyard notes had been more present and if overall taste would have been more tart and sour. Very well done.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet malty with spicy notes, and so is the flavor. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of pepsican. Hazy amber golden with a small off-white head. Very delicious bourbon aroma. Medium-bodied with very dry caramel accents and some fruit. Distinct woody accents and a very dry finish. Yummy. 311008

Bottle: Poured a cloudy deep brown color ale with a super large foamy head with perfect retention and great lacing. Aroma consists of oak, deep sweet malt with some vinous notes. Taste is a quiet complex mix between some oak and woody notes with some huge sweet malt bill and a spicy finish. Full body with limited filtration and with great carbonation and no alcohol was discernable. Very different take on a style (old ale) that is not clearly defined, very intelligent used of oak and still very well balance. Wow!
