Draft at the Dong Du taproom, HCMC. Poured a hazy yellow golden colour with a short-lived, frothy white head. The aroma is big mango. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a juicy mango, big burning chilli spice palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. The chilli really dominates and who knows if that was the intention. I thought these burner beers were out of fashion. It seems not.

Draft at 7 Bridges Dong Du taproom, HCMC. Poured a crystal clear light yellow golden colour with a short-lived, frothy white head. The aroma is yeasty, light hops. The flavour is light bitter, with a light, somewhat watery, mineral, light creamy, floral hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

Draft from the Le Thanh Ton, Ho Chi Minh taproom. Poured a clear medium to dark brown colour with a lasting frothy light tan head. The aroma is roasty, light creamy caramel. The flavour is moderate to light liquorice bitter, with a silky smooth, somewhat light, roasty, liquorice, earthy, light chocolate, light liquorice bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a somewhat light, smooth, herbal, yeasty, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. They might be saving the planet but at the end of the day it’s a poor lager.
