On cask at Strange Fellows, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of bourbon, alcohol and some roast upfront. Flavour is strange, exactly like you'd expect from pouring bourbon into an imperial stout. Lots of bourbon and heat, leaving only traces of roasted malt behind. Not a good idea. I don't know why they thought it was. Not offensive, just hot and difficult to drink.

Cask - Tons of boozy bourbon notes. Jet brown with a light brown head. Absurd amount of wood and bourbon, but surprisingly not as hot as I would expect. Wood could also be the smoke although not obvious. Big and bold, but no balance.

Draft - Nice sweet grapefruit and orange citrus. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Bitterness up front, pithy and peel with a long bitter finish. Smells great, but doesn’t translate well.

2020-04-12, bottle from the brewery, 8.5% ABV, 5-5-6-3-12=31
Red-chestnut colour, clean, with beige compact head. Strong smell of that inauthentic yeast so often used in North America, estery, with anise, dirt. Good mouthfeel, lean, lightly sweet, with caramel flavour, candi sugar, and thankfully not much of that yeast; warmng alcohol in the finish.
Drinkable.

Dark amber color to burnt orange, hazy, with almost no head. In the aroma there are some fruity esters, some candi sugar, and dust. The mouthfeel is drier, more attenuated than expected; dry caramel flavor with dusty yeast, a hint of bitter oranges, and some booze in the final.
Too boozy and dry to be on style; not particularly pleasant.

Blond color, hazy, with small frothy head. More malt than a Pale Lager, but overall the malt is not expressive, the hop neither; the final is almost chewy; there are a few good Pilsners around, this one won’t be remembered.

Cloudy light amber color with compact head. The hop works well, resiny and a bit fruity too, with a rather strong dank character; the malts are a bit chewy, moderate sweetness; some chicory in the final.

Black color with small tan head. A bit of cardboard and chocolate, some roastiness, too dry and thin to be identified as Imperial Stout; strong final bitterness, but it seems to come mostly from the strong roasted character. I find the roastiness in the final to be excessive and out of balance.
A nice roasty beer, that’s all.

On tap at Strange Fellows, pours a cloudy murky orange with a small beige head. Aroma showcases lots of hops, with pine, herbal and resinous elements, along with a creamy caramely biscuity malt backing. Flavour follows accordingly, with big piney and herbal hops upfront, and a little bit of resin - really quite dank. Just enough malt to provide a big backing to this. Really lovely showcasing of the equinox here. Great stuff.
