Description
We’re proud to be a small, independent, family-owned business. Our founders Hamish Coates, Mel Holland and Colin Coates have stayed true to this for the entire life of the business.

With no outside investment or intervention, we make decisions based on what’s best for our staff, for our brewery and for the future of our planet.

This means that when it comes to doing the right thing, there are no shareholders or investors to answer to – we can just do it.

We are 100% independent, 100% family owned, and 100% of arguments are won by Ace – the dog!

Our farm and brewery take their name from a natural outcrop of ironstone that runs through the centre of our farm; “Rocky Ridge” perfectly sums up our slice of paradise and ironically sums up the somewhat rocky road that we are on as well.

Can. Misted pale gold with a cm of white head. Aroma of pineapple, crackers, some orange, pine. More tropical fruit and some berries in the taste too, but it's less sweet than guessed. Dries out to make the bitterness snap nicely. Good.

Can. Nearly black with a 1/2 cm tan head that's soon a coat. Aroma of roast, liquorice, dark sugars, coffee. Pretty full bodied, moderate carbonation. Tastes pretty much as it smells - quite sweet with dark sugars, liquorice, roast. Not a lot behind and the finish tails off a little. Strong for what if offers.

Press hazy gold, large white head.
Nose shows mango, papaya, musk stick, perfumous notes. Heavy caramel malt notes showing through too.
Flavours are clean and sublime, doesn't show the alcohol. Lots of tropical fruit, grape, pineapple. Clean malt backing with a gentle bitterness in the finish.

Can. Modestly cloudy amber, white head. Aroma of kumquat, gooseberry, pine, breadcrust. I’m guessing more Oz than Kiwi hops but the latter are very distinctive. Dryish with just a little body. Hops don’t overwhelm the breadcrusty malt but signal they will sweep through at the end. Fairly bitter finish. Really good.

Aromas of pine, orange, mango, guava.
Thick mouthfeel. Botes of pine, lollyish sweetness. Bit too bitter for a hazy.

Can. Dark brown, light tan head. Chocolate syrup aroma with roasted malt and some vanilla. Pretty sweet but enough of a bitter kick (partly roast, partly dark chocolate as well as hops) to keep it from being too dessert-like. Sometimes things like honeycomb seem artificial to me but not here. Dangerously easy to drink. Good.

Can. Unclear amber with a 3/2 cm white head that lasts well. Obviously actual lime in the aroma with orange, light biscuit, mango a way in the background. After a while it nestles in a little bit, and moreso in the taste. Only modestly sweet but with a little biscuity richness before mostly citrus fruit and a fairly bitter finish.

From a 375ml can on 10/12/2025. Pours a clear deep golden with biggish head that disappears fairly quickly. The nose is herbal, with a bit of pine, resin and a touch of grapefruit. Tastes of sweet citrus fruit, leading into a quite intense bitterness with the full troika of pine, resin and grapefruit. Set of against a very light caramel malt backbone. Full bodied with average carbonation. Has a good dash of character and pretty good, but lacks the malty magic of great US made WCs.

From a 375ml can on 6/12/2025. Pours a lightly hazy golden with a small to medium head. The nose features masses of pinapple with some zesty orange. You get all of the promised fruits in a package that's surprisingly intense and assertive, with a pretty firm tangy, spicy bitterness with more than a hint of grapefruit. Has a slightly silky mouthfeel with average carbonation. An unusually bold hazy that comes together really nicely.
