Ushitora Senor Sankaiten Mexican lager 7 IBU 5% Nice pale gold with dense white foam and a lemon zest aroma. Crisp light body with a bit of a dry bite with crackery pale malts plus mild herbal spice. Clean light lager that hits the spot on this very hot summer evening.

Ushitora Magician’s Double IPA Ibu 44 7.5% Nice golden color with dense creamy light beige foam and a rich piney citrus aroma. Medium to full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. The taste is bitter dank Pune with piney citrus. Good stuff. FYI there’s a Gion matsuri premium at the moment of an extra 200¥.

Tap at Bungalow. clear, brilliant gold. Bright citrus hop nose, crisp, crackery malt, old school West Coast nose is nailed. Dry, crisp, hoppy flavor with a bitter finish. Well done. Most of their IPAs all taste like this, but it's a good way to taste.

Tap at Craft House. A collaboration / contract brew for the upcoming Nude Brewing. Deep amber-red. Nose is cherry, caramel, leather, earthy hops. Sweet cherry and apple, azuki red bean paste, earthy hop. A bit on the sweet side, and the hops don't give quite enough flavor, though they make it finish bitter.

Ushitora Asyura Triple IPA 10% Mince looking orange gold with dense off-white foam and a rich yeasty stone fruit aroma. Full bodied and dry with a touch of boozy heat and warmth. The taste is candied stone fruit with a touch of dank citrus and overripe mango. Very smooth and when I saw the ABV I was expecting a more aggressive beast so I’m pleasantly surprised by how balanced this is.

Ushitora Tiger APA 5% 26 IBU Matte gold with thin dense foam and a subdued stone fruit aroma. Medium bodied with a dry finish - it feels fuller bodied than many ushitora beers. Solid New Year’s brew.

Ushitora Maido Maido no IPA 42 IBU 6.5% Hazy gold with 1cm of bright white foam. The aroma is quite subdued after the Ise Kadoya haystack rock. Light bodied and dry with a herbal earthy bitterness. I saw this listed on Untappd as a double ipa but I don’t think so. Pretty average.

Man I’ve not had ushitora in awhile! Pricey on draft but it with the lockdowns I’ve not had the chance. Surprisingly, they’re quite affordable in cans at 5-600¥. Ushitora Ura Mono Session IPA 4% Deep amber gold with a light beige head of foam. The aroma is hoppy pine with dank and woodsy element that evoke a classic west coast IPA. The beer has a medium body and is smooth. Actually, for a Session IPA the body is quite nice.
