Description
2nd Story Ale Worksは、徳島市郊外の山間部にあり、のどかな田園風景が眺められる小さな醸造所です。私達は、様々なビールを作りますが、共通して言えるのは、高品質であるべきということです。何よりも品質を一番に考えております。

We are a small beer brewery located on a farm on the outskirts of Tokushima city. We make a range of different beers with the common thread being high quality. Other than quality we try not to take things too seriously. We are making beer after all, it should be fun.

Surprisingly amber! Nice roasty coffee taste but with a bit of caramel sweetness too. Nice stuff.

Bit of spice. Chilli taste but then that gives way to berry fruitiness. High on roast. Quite interesting and pretty unique.

Tap at Komachi. Slightly hazy golden color with a thick, low head. Nose is peach, barnyard funk, hay, grapefruit zest, esters. Lovely hay and funk flavors, slight lactic acid note, nicely tart. Less peach than the nose, but fills in in a nice, subtle way, also citrus and apricot notes. Full, silky, slightly oily body, heavier than their bottles farmhouse ales. This would probably be better in a 750 with bottle conditioning and a more spritzy carbonation. Still pretty great.

Lovely stuff. Creamy, saisony, berries, everything I want. Even with a hangover I couldn’t stop drinking it.

Bottle, mail ordered from the brewery. Up from 4.5% last year. Nice burst of strawberry and raspberry, come biscuity malt, creamy lactic acid, touch of vanilla. Less of a big berry burst in the flavor, maybe more natural, some seeds, lactic acid tartness though not hugely sour. Tasty but not super exciting.

Bottle, mail ordered from the brewery. Very big burst of caradamon, lemon, wheat, creamy, touch of vanilla. Almost clear, effervescent, tall head. Bright gold. Less card, spicy, citrusy, creamy malt and wheat, touch of vanilla, smooth, creamy, mild finish. Spice works well with the yeast and hops.

Bottle. Mail order from the brewery. Deep, cloudy golden orange with a high, airy head. Nose is rich fruits: apricot, peach, orange, grapefruit, biscuity malt, honey spicy but not quite funky. There is a bit of dusty leather reminiscent of young brett that hasn’t gotten to most of the sugars yet… Wonderfully fruity, herbal, grainy, with notes of the brown rice, grapefruit, orange, mango, also some dry, dusty aspects, and a solid bitter finish that seems to come from pepper, yeast, and hops. Body is full but crisp. Very impressive again. Not as complex as the 2019, but that went through a full-on mixed fermentation for a year and a half before I tried it. This is younger, fresher, fruitier.

Bottle, mail order from the brewery. Pours a glowing, bright, deep gold with a thick, full head. Lovely. Nose is pineapple, mango, guava. Nice fruit. Tart and juicy flavor, malty, salty, tropical. More sour than usual here, which works. Very juicy and nicely rich malt. Delicious.
