Tokushima,
Japan 🇯🇵
Associated Venue: 2nd Story Ale Works
We are a small beer brewery located on a farm on the outskirts of Tokushima city. We make a range of different beers with the common thread being high quality. Other than quality we try not to take things too seriously. We are making beer after all, it should be fun.

Tap @ iBREW Shimbashi. Pours golden but somewhat cloudy and looking pretty flat. Not the best look actually. Nose has a bit of umeshu character, simple fruity. Taste has more plums and feels actually more like umeshu than beer. Fruity and easily drinkable, not bad at what it is. Some saison yeast esters there also, not very bitter and not very funky, quite tame.

very hazy golden amber color. Frothy white head. A bit too carbonated mouth and tropical Hops don’t drop as much as I hoped. Still fairly dank and quaffable. Certainly not bad. But mouth feel and hop character could be adjusted a bit.

turbid amber golden color, frothy white head. The most odd nose of lemon grass, citrus and lemon cough drops. I can’t believe this is just coming from hops. Some over ripe mangoes, lemongrass and citrus not. Fairly juicy with low med bitter and carbonation but body felt a touch lifeless. It needed more alpha acidity or body. Still very interesting

Tap at Craft Beer Bar Marciero, Osaka. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, zesty citrus, light pepper spice hop. The flavour is moderate bitter light sweet, with a grainy malt, juicy citrus, light tart, dry, mineral, light floral hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

very turbid white golden colors. Sweet juicy dank nose with tons of overripe mangos. Modest tartness, but the hops don’t shine as much as previous ne ipa. White grapefruit finish. Not bad.

frothy white head. Light white amber color. Omg I could make love to that nose. The hops aren’t shining, they are singing across roofs. Wow. An underlying headiness that is very dank with big tropical fruit notes. My god this nose is amazing. Low medium bitterness, medium carbonation, very juicy, very dank. Very good condition. Super crushable. Wow. This is fuckin great. I think the carbonation could be half a notch down and the abv up to 7.5-8.0% and this would be a masterpiece. Still one of the best NE IPAs in Japan.

Tap at the newly expanded Beer Komachi. My first 2nd Story Ale Works beer! NEIPA 7% Honey moly gold with a dense 1cm of foam and a nice tropical aroma. The smooth medium to full body gives sweet tropical fruits and chewy (oats?). It’s got a bit of an orange tang at the finish, really good. It’s a nice example of the style, very drinkable but the finish is a touch on the dry side.
