This is a collaboration with/beer produced for Schmatz that’s most likely coming back as a regular seasonal. Two Rabbits x Schmatz The Dark Rabbit Black IPA 6.5% Deep brown verging on black with a thick beige head of foam. Luscious smooth medium to full body. The aroma is piney sweet hops with undertones of soft cocoa. The taste is the same, not complex but perfectly balanced. This is a perfect example of a black ipa in my book that has the hops but also dark beer notes. They tend to be too hop heavy so I feel it’s a style that’s hard to get right.

Two Rabbits do some fun Valentine’s beers. This year’s version is a Black Forest cake beer, it’s think it is the third I’ve tried and the first was at MBCT from Garage Project and was great! Two Rabbits Black Forest Chocolate Cake Imperial Stout 9% Motor oil black pour with a dense rusty head of foam. Roasty dark chocolate aroma. Rich smooth creamy medium body. Dark chocolate up front with subtle cherry notes. I paired it with chocolate covered raspberry gumdrops. The beer accentuated the milk chocolate and the raspberry gumdrops highlighted the cherry in the Black Forest cake. Good stuff.

Can. Pitch black with a pretty brown head. Really lovely head. Light cherry in the nose, lots of dark chocolate, a hint of apple, caramel, sweetened cafe au lait. Great nose. Flavor is sweet but not pastry sweet, the cherry acidity balances it well. Lots of chocolate but it's hard to tell where the malt blends into the nibs. Long, roasty, surprisingly bitter finish. Excellent stuff.

I believe this was released to celebrate NYE. Two Rabbits Party Started! West Coast IPA 6.5% Pretty copper color with dense foam and great clarity. Woodsy sweet hop bouquet. Slick almost oily mouthfeel on a fairly full smooth body. The taste is classic resinous dank woodsy west coast hops with balanced sweetness and hints of citrus. Really nice one.

Can from the brewery. Deep brown with a medium, bubbly head. Hoppy nose, citrus, pine resin, light mint, then caramel and dark chocolate. Hoppy flavor, pine, menthol, citrus, toast, caramel, chocolate. Toasty, slightly roasted. More roast in the finish, with so e forest floor notes and just a touch of mushroom. Pretty great.

Still pockets of snow around my place and yes… Fuck it’s cold! DDH DIPA 9% For some reason I was expecting something gold… anyways lovely orange Amber pour with soapy giant beige head. Dank woodsy aroma with stone fruit. Full bodied with a somewhat slick mouthfeel and semi-dry finish. the taste is dank, woodsy pine with loads of stone fruit. Yum, this was gone in a flash. The ABV is invisible as well so drink carefully.

Tap at Two Rabbits. Stronger, un-smoked version this year. Rather deep brown-orange color. Nose is caramel, orange, chocolate. Rich malt flavor but not very sweet, whole wheat or rye bread, caramel, citrus, spicy Kent Goldings. Nice drinker on a cold winter day.

Tap at Two Rabbits. Bright, clear golden-orange with a low, thick head. Bready, crackery malt nose, crisp malt, grassy, herbal hops. Flavor is crisp and crackery with some citrus, more herbal, a touch of resin. Nice.

Tap at Komachi. Nose is bright pineapple, grapefruit, lemon, creamy malt, wheat? Cloudy, brilliant pastel gold. Crisp malt / rice flavor, grapefruit zest and pith, some pineapple, light piny resin. slight pitter, pithy and zesty finish. Good one.

Two Rabbits seem to be doing a lager series where the labels on the cabs feature the country’s colors. This is following up on the excellent Italian Pilsner. Two Rabbits Australian Lager 5% 22 IBU Glad to spot this on tap at Bungalow as I didn’t get a chance to pick up a can yet. Straw gold with a thin white film of foam. Mild woodsy fruity hop aroma. The taste adds an earthiness to that but the medium bodied brew is crisp and dry. Flavorful stuff, solid.
