473ml can. Pours a hazy gold-yellow with a medium, foamy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves soapy lacing. Sweet fruity aroma of bready pale malt, orange, mango, peach, pineapple, earthy yeast and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready pale malt, orange, grapefruit rind, apricot, peach, pineapple, pine resin, earthy yeast and alcohol in a dry, mild bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with a sticky, oily texture and average carbonation. Juicy, but a bit of alcohol heat.

237 ml midget can. Pours dark garnet with no head other then a few pop like bubbles. Aromas of brown sugar, candied fruit, booze, and caramel malts. Flavors follow same with emphasis on caramel and alcohol. Boozy rye whiskey like finish. Not very well put together IMHO; it's dumping booze into a sweet malty beer without a big enough base.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark amber colour, oily, no head. Mild aroma of alcohol, light aroma of red fruits. Full bodied, malt flavour, toffee, figs, but also too much alcohol, distracting.
Ok beer.

Poured from 355mL can (abv listed as 11%). Black with tan head. Tobacco, sweet roast malt, mild chocolate, a bit of booziness. Booze make it a little harsh, but otherwise it's quite good.

473ml can. Pours a hazy straw colour with a medium, foamy, short lived, white head that leaves soapy lacing. Sweet fruity aroma of bready wheat malt, lemon, lime and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready wheat malt, lime and lemon in a dry, tart floral finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Juicy, refreshing, enjoyable and easy to put back. A great patio beer.

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a tiny ring of tan head. Nose is pretty intense, with lots of port red wine barrels, treacle, and caramel. Flavour is quite dry, with a dry port red wine character dominating. There's some raisins and other dry dark red fruit. There's a bit of residual sweetness but it also finishes dry and vinous. I'd prefer a little carbonation but this still works. Good.

500ml bottle. Pours an unclear dark brown with a ruby hue and completely still. Sweet aroma of bready caramel malt, toffee, raisin, prune, port wine and oak. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, plum, prune, raisin, licorice, vanilla and oak in a dry, mild bitter, warming port wine finish. Medium body with an oily texture and no carbonation. Nice complexity, but lack of carbonation (while deliberate) detracts from the appearance and mouthfeel.

8oz on Alex's porch Appearance: hazy copper with no head. Aroma: caramel, figs, raisins, slight barrel. Taste: along the same Iines, very sweet, lots of caramel, and, of course, it's boozy. Nice warming aftertaste though. Overall: good.

Can, pours black with a medium beige head. Nose brings out semi-smoky bourbon barrels, with plenty of vanillins, and moderate roasted malt. Flavour is very barrel-heavy, with lots of smoky bourbon character, backed by just enough vanilla and roasted malt. Not too sweet for the style. The barrel is very prominent but works very well. Excellent.
