Draft at the Alcott Hotel, Lane Cove, Sydney. Poured a hazy yellow golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy, light citrus. The flavour is light bitter and sweet, with a light, crisp, fresh, slightly watery, light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Pint on tap at The Mitre, Melbourne. Cloudy amber beer with a thin white head. Faint aroma of floral hops and malt. Good lacing. Taste is earthy with a drying finish of tropical fruit. Very nice ale.

Growler. Just unclear gold with a loose white head. Vibrant orange aroma with some tropical fruit and light biscuit. A swig reveals a fair whack of pineapple and a little bit astringency - that unusually (for me anyway) adds something to the beer rather than is something that might be tolerable - as well as moderate bitterness at the fairly dry end. After a while at the finish you wonder whether there is vanilla or it's that thing that you sometimes get with pineapple (it's vanilla). Not quite my thing but very well done.

Growler. Very dark brown with an inch of head that lightens to off white, then laces extravagantly. 4 Light chocolate brioche aroma with citrus and some tropical fruit that floats above. Dryish with mocha and roasted notes before a little fruit and a little more resin at the modestly - but because it's dry, sufficiently - bitter end. Refreshing, good.

Collingwood is surely more seitan than Satan these days. Can. Very dark red with a pale beige head. Caramel and some stewed fruit beneath floaty grapefruit. True for the taste too - doesn’t seem overly rich due to the grapefruity hops and a finish that’s more dry than bitter. After a while the alcohol was a bit obvious. Not totally my thing but fun stuff albeit a bit on the strong side for what it offers.
