Pours black with a fading head.Nose shows smokey, nutty malt, slight meaty salty notes along with lots of roast.Rich flavours, more meaty smoke, milk chocolate, soft liquorice, delicate salt and heavy roasted malt.

Can. Clear brown with a beige head that fades. Aroma of toast, nuts, crusts, earth. Malty and quite gutsy for around 5% with spicy bitterness coming up to match the earth, nuts and bread crust. Solid - interesting but not flashy.

Can. Not quite clear reddish amber with a white head that fades to a dense coat. Aroma of dough, spices, red berries that must be the rose hips and the pinot, red wine vinegar, vanilla-y oak. 7+ Together aroma but the taste is rather vegetal, although it bothered me a bit less after a while. Behind it is some nice moderately funky dough and spices and a slightly astringent as well as woody dry end. Another interesting one.

Can. Pale amber, slightly hazed. White head lasts very well. Aroma of nectarine, mandarin, pineapple, some bread crust. Light bodied, fairly fizzy. Not all that sweet, but with sweet stone and tropical fruit, then really quite dry and a bit astringent as well as bitter at the end. As ever, I can see this sort of thing as a dust cutter but can't imagine drinking several in a row.

Can from Slow Beer, Fitzroy. Poured a hazy medium brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is caramel malt, toffee fudge, woody hop. The flavour is light sweet with a dry creamy malt, nutty, light liquorice hop bitter palette. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Plenty of backbone and for a brown ale plenty going on.

Can at Slow Beer, Fitzroy. Poured a hazy straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is funky malt, grainy, yeast, light hop. The flavour is acidic light citrus with a crisp, yeasty, watery light stone fruit, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Can at Slow Beer, Fitzroy, Melbourne. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken light tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, light lactose, light dry coffee. The flavour moderate to light sweet with a dry malt, light citrus fruit, oyster, light coffee, liqouice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Really smooth and well balanced.

Can, 12C. Black with a head that settles to a fat tan coat. Aroma of sweet licorice, roasted malt, seaweed, anise, smoke. Taste mainly follows. A little sweet with some surprising dark berry notes and woody spices. Dryish, slightly briny finish that's the most obvious sign of the oysters. Great depth of flavour for a stout that's not that heavy either in alcohol or on the palate. Good, interesting.

Can. Black, tan head that’s soon a coat. Aroma of coffee, vanilla, roast. Lightish bodied, some hints of oaty smoothness. A little caramel (and whisky) sweet with surprisingly firm roasted notes and decent bitterness to balance. Quite like cold brew coffee, but just about beery enough. I won’t be drinking this at breakfast but you could (and still function, unlike most supposed breakfast stouts). Clever.
