Description
ABC has started gypsy brewing (meaning they are using other brewery facilities to brew and package their beer) through Twelve Percent Beer Project.

Abomination - A thing that causes disgust or hatred.

While our beer certainly won't cause you disgust, it is a founding idea the company was based on. Dating as far back as 1487 the Reinheistgebot or, German beer purity act, had varying degrees of stringency across the centuries. beer could only be: hops, barley, water, and yeast. well, fuck that.

Abomination is here to usurp these laws, and show that there is beauty in disgust and curiosity beyond hatred. What are bounds but construct of man? Should anyone be confined to laws other than that of science and fact? We pilgrimage to these thoughts, and it is here that we reside. To push bounds.

Can to English pint glass.
Appearance: dark brown to black color with a finger's worth of khaki foamy head which seemed to quickly dissipate and really didn't leave much lace if any at all
Aroma: thick milk chocolate with some nuttiness, then vanilla with coffee sweetness but not so much roasted notes of the coffee
Flavor: pretty much copies the aromas to a variety of different sweet notes. Finishes very cold-brew like with ample milk chocolate tones
Texture: light to medium bodied - maybe a pinch closer to medium? I think. Slightly sessionable; pretty darn smooth but still seems very much stout-like or maybe porter (depending on who you talk to)
Overall: nice aromas and flavors - appearance - well I was hoping for more and ya know - I'm contemplating here a little bit but it did seem more "porter-like"....hmmmm...

Can to becher glass.
Appearance: cloudy dark orangey cardboard yellowed color with a two finger white foamy head which took it's time to dissipate then leave some light messy lace
Aroma: melon-like hops first then some pineapple to tangerine-like hop tones in the secondary then a little bit of grapefruity shyly at the end
Flavor: melds the prior noted aromas into a great conglomeration of sweet to bittersweet with a tad of juiciness; finishes mainly with the melon to pineapple & tangerine tones
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; great smoothness with nothing bothersome anywhere - great flow! Nice low carb
Overall: well if this doesn't pass as a cold IPA to some folks, this'll do well as a NEIPA, either way it's one I would return to.

Aromas are citrus, a touch old pine resin, mint, malt. Flavors are similar to nose and include stone fruit. A bit more sweet upfront going to bittersweet and a little bit of some sort of burn in the finish.

Can from Steve. Hazy dark yellow, tons of sparkle, thin head with good retention, nice lacing. Aroma is strong pineapple, tangerine and light vanilla. Taste is strong pineapple, citrus and Pilsner malt. Smooth, creamy, frothy texture, soft carbonation, finish as taste. Really juicy!

Poured from a can into a becher pint glass

Pours a deep dark brown almost black with a finger and a half of tan head that disapates rather quickly leaving no real trace

Aromas of nutty cold brew coffee, mild sweet chocolate, light caramel. Really have to work at this one, pretty subtle on the nose.

Taste of cold brew coffee, sweet mocha, light lactose.

Medium body with low carbonation, leans to a slightly sticky lightly bitter finish

Overall I wanted to like this, Its on the sweet side even for the style and the bitterness seems a bit heavy handed. It's awkwardly too sweet and too bitter.

16 oz. can. Aroma is bold banana and soft graham cracker. Flavor follows with a very light hint of marshmallow. Maybe a trace of peanut butter here. Ends on a little bit of bitter astringency. Medium in body. That’s an interesting Brown Ale. Yet, not running back to the beer store to buy more.

Poured from a can into a tulip glass

Pours a very dark opaque brown to black with one finger of tan foamy head that dissipates very quickly leaving no real traces

The aroma is a showcase of the adjuncts, brown sugar pop tarts, cinnamon graham cracker, nutmeg and some raisin notes from the dark malts

The flavor leans toward the aroma with molasses, brown sugarband cinnamon taking the lead. A bit of raisin/plum and pie crust following with the nutmeg working toward the end.

This is a super smooth and easy drinking beer for an imperial brown, medium body and lightly carbonated. Has a nice dryness and bitterness to balance making it very drinkable considering how decadent it is.

Overall a very solid imperial pastry brown? It's delicious and I think very fitting of its name. I'd definitely have this again would be great after a holiday meal. Definitely a dessert beer that doesn't get to a cloying sweetness. Good job by Abomination Brewing Company
