Piešťanský Pivovar ŽiWELL
Microbrewery
in Piešťany,
Trnava,
Slovakia 🇸🇰
Associated Venue: Piešťanský pivovar
Established in 2015
We visited almost all Slovak microbreweries and many Czech ones to get inspiration. Yes, we were a little envious and peeked. We understood that the beer we want to brew will consist of only 4 basic ingredients - water, barley, hops and yeast. No added enzymes, preservatives and other additives - and therefore no European beer, but honest domestic beer.
And so we started cooking. Each batch is slightly different from the previous one, because we are still not convinced that we have found the ideal ratio of ingredients. But it will come. We are still learning and we really enjoy it :)

Tap at the place as 12°. Bright yellow volor white head. Very strongl carbonation. Light paleale grains, decise flavor of lemon zest flowers a lacto acidic off taste, feels quite mineral, a bit raspy, crude.

750ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, yellow-ish, dark golden colour with average to huge, frothy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Grassy hoppy, minimally spicy, pale malty and mildly funky yeasty aroma, hints of old lemon peel, buffalo grass, a touch of rotting fruit, very weak, tart-ish undertones of infection, vinegar. Taste is dry, grassy hoppy, minimally spicy, pale malty, funky yeasty overtones come parallel with weak, tart-ish hints of infection, hints of old lemon peel, a touch of vinegar. Watery texture, dry palate, medium, dense, mildly prickly carbonation. Light and refreshing, (unintended?) tartness supports the refreshing character - OK.

On tap at Pezinok pije pivo. Fairly okay IPA, more on an ISA side, but certainly something one might appreciate on beer festival

BB 30.07.23 and also clearly infected. Sourish, sharp, crisp, lactic, shame.

BB on the label says 23.07.23, but this has already gone slightly off. Sourish, extra fizzy, some hops and bitterness. Shame.

Tap at Salon piva Summer 2023. Rather thin body, med-high carbonation. Rather clean, medium bitterness, medium sweetness. Lots of candyish gummybeary aroma and flavour. Moderate tropical pineapple mango, feels a bit artificial. Easy drinking though, good.

Bottle, 0.75l, shared with Simona & David. Aroma of citrus, cereals, herbs and sauerkraut. Pours cloudy dark golden color with rocky white head and sparkling appearance. Taste starts refreshing grainy and citrusy with strong sauerkraut note, following is grassy, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is moderate bitter. Medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Could be tasty, but infected…
