Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a small tan head that faded quickly. The aroma was faint vague fruits and toasty malts with a hint of caramel. The flavor was tangy, butter and a bit toasty with faint nut and caramel underneath. The finish was long, bitter and tangy. Medium body. Eh.

Clear brown coloured body with a nice light ruby and copper glow and a thin, non-impressive tan head. Aroma of cardboard, malt, raisins, caramel, nuts and a bit of very light hops - again, pretty dull and bland. Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty character and a little earthy bite coupled with a good amount of pit fruit and raisin sweetness. Aftertaste shows a little hop taste, a good amount of malt and a very defined raisin and fig sweetness. Overall, an interesting Scotch - more body than I expected and a good sweetness shows nicely, but it still isnβt an amazing beer. A good representation and a slight variation on the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from the Opera House Gourmet in Manassas, Virginia on 12-March-2011 sampled at home two days later on 14-March-2011 in Washington.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-brown color with a large creamy beige head that lingered and produced good lacing. The aroma was sourdough bread, brown sugar, lemon, clove, cherry and a hint of nutmeg. The flavor was tangy and citric with notes of clove, brown sugar, cherry, sourdough bread, nut and faint hints of anise and nutmeg. The finish was long with sourdough, brown sugar and cherry lingering. Fairly full bodied. Excellent.

Very hazy amber coloured body with a nice thin tan head on top and a very nice caramel honey colour with a lot of haze at the bottom. Aroma of potent alcohol, yeast, wheat, raisins, figs, pit fruits, nuts and a touch of spice - very potent and nice. Medium to Full-bodied; Potent yeast and wheat flavour with a lot of raisins and pit fruits coupled with some caramel and mellow sweetness. Aftertaste is sweet with a little malt dryness and a touch of the yeast flavours throughout. Overall, a nice weizenbock with good sweetness, some dry and spicy notes and a large malt and yeast presence. Nice to try and pretty respectable for the style! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Market Cellars in Reston, Virginia on 11-December-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 11-January-2011.

Clear brown coloured body with a nice ruby tint and a thin tan head with large bubbles. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, brown sugar and a very mild yeast scent. Light-bodied; Some maltiness and a lot of peanuts and pecans soon after the sip. Aftertaste shows a light-bodied beer with a nutty and slightly bitter flavour with no body and no complexity. Overall, not such a great beer - a touch of sweetness and nuts, but way too watery and no complexity at all make for an uninspired beer. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Market Cellars in Reston, Virginia on 11-December-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 10-January-2011.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Hazy deep red to brown color with a medium bubbly beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, biscuits, a bit of cookies and some chocolate and nougat notes. Very sweet and malty flavor with caramel, biscuits, sugar, fruits and a bit of chocolate. Light-medium-bodied. Too sweet and really not my thing.

12oz bottle pours a deep, opaque almost black, thin off white head. Nose is malty, crackers, biscuit. Flavor is sweet, malty, cookie dough, caramel, light burnt toast. Full bodied, sweet finish which is a touch hot. A barleywine thatβs completely malt forward. This was a 2009 bottle that could definitely go another year or so.

Slightly cloudy orange coloured body with a honey like glow and a thin, one-centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of corn, pale malt, light hops, grass, hay and some other saison like smells. Medium-bodied; Very grassy, herbal hoppiness with a bit of a floral kick and tastes of tea as the flavour drags on. Aftertaste is strong and bittering - grass and a resiny hop taste are very noticeable along with some dry finishes. Overall, a pretty one-sided beer (hops, no malt) showing the grassy, herbal hops that can show up in a beer. Not great, but an example of a dry, assertive ipa. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Normβs in Vienna, Virginia on 02-October-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 17-December-2010.

Clear golden coloured yellow body with a one centimetre tall white head that dissolves fast and shows a few small bubbles rising wildly to the top. Aroma of corn, light malt, rice, grass and a bit of metal. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic flavour at first with some odd malt tastes of rice and cardboard. A touch of maltiness on the aftertaste with some corn and odd funkiness at the end. Overall, not such a great beer, but not absolutely horrible. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Market Cellars in Reston, Virginia on 11-December-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 16-December-2010.
