First, they brewed a beer called “Barley Wine”, but describe it as an “English Strong Ale”, and yet it’s 60 IBUs. None of that makes any sense.
On tap at R&B, pours a clear copper with a tiny beige head. Aroma is restrained, with soft bready malt, a touch of caramel, maybe a touch of resinous hops. Flavour is more potent, tasting more like an English barley wine, with caramel, butterscotch, toffee, maybe a hint of hoppy bitterness, and moderate-to-heavy residual sweetness. Pretty decent malt depth, albeit not too refined. This is actually half decent for R&B.

Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 5 | Overall - 5
On tap at R&B, pours a clear copper amber with a small off-white head. Aroma has some bitter pine, rough bready malt, and citrus pith. Flavour has a pretty clumsy piney hop character that almost tastes like the beer is a bit oxidized—though I doubt it is given that it just went on tap at the brewery. There’s rough bready malt in back. Just not a great hop expression, nor great construction in general. Decent at best.

Appearance - 5 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 4 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 4.5
On tap at R&B, pours a hazy red with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of lacto upfront, with a hint of blueberry and even subtler vanilla. Flavour is jumbled and confused, with light, obscured notes of vanilla and blueberry, after which the lacto takes over and dominates. Clumsy even for a fruited kettle sour. Poor.

Appearance - 5 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 5 | Overall - 5
On tap at R&B, pours a clear pale golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is pretty much neutral, with very subtle straw and toasted grains. Flavour is clean but fairly neutral, with toasted grains, no hop content at all. Clean and drinkable enough but totally uninteresting.

Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 4 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 4.5
On tap at R&B, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma doesn’t have a pleasant hop expression—sweaty, boozy, somewhat spicy—with a thin malt backbone. Flavour matches, with a pretty messed up hop expression of tired, sweaty, earthy hops and toasted malt. Hilariously incompetent IPA—nothing comes together. This is just sad.

Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 4 | Flavor - 4 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 5
On tap at R&B, pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Aroma is faint, with veer light toasted malt and a touch of peppers. Flavour is vegetal more than anything, with toasted malt and maybe some habanero. Thin, lacking depth, and just totally incompetent and pointless. Crap.
mcberko (47797) reviewed Blackberry Fresh Hop from R & B Brewing Company 2 months ago
Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 5.5
On tap at R&B, pours an opaque dark orange with a small white head. Nose is pretty muted, with faint earthy blackberry pith. Flavour is much the same, with muted earthy blackberry pith and maybe some hop bitterness. The hell is the point fresh hopping a blackberry wheat ale, let alone serving it in January. Useless.
mcberko (47797) reviewed Stand Up from R & B Brewing Company 2 months ago
Appearance - 5 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 5 | Overall - 5.5
On tap at R&B, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is fairly muted, with some oats, no notice of the cinnamon. Flavour is much the same, with obscured oats, earthines, not much cinnamon; hardly any malt depth, and just a jumbled mess. How can you mess up something simple like this?
mcberko (47797) reviewed Basil Blonde from R & B Brewing Company 2 months ago
Appearance - 5 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 5 | Overall - 5
On tap at R&B, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma is dominated by the herbal basil, with little else, maybe some cereal malt. Flavour is then same, with lots of herbaceous notes. Not very satisfying, but at least not egregious.
Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5
473ml can. Pours a clear amber with a small, foamy, short lived, beige head that laces. Mild aroma of caramel malt, nutmeg and vanilla. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, nutmeg, cinnamon, orange peel and vanilla in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light to medium body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Not really getting any pumpkin, more of a spiced beer.
