Dull tan, slight haze - looks terrible. The aroma is expressive - coriander, malty, orange peel...nothing special but pleasant nonetheless. Oily body fades to tartness. There is a bit of minerally bitterness. Part of that is a mouthfeel issue, though - cask isn’t really the best way to serve this. Hopefully I’ll see it around and give it another shot.

Bright golden colour. Light herbal hop aroma, hay-like with faint pale malt background. Clean body, light bitterness, fresh bread notes, with herbal, slightly hay-like, slightly earthy hop notes. Off-dry finish. The name is a good description as this compares more to the lighter svetles than to the full-on pilsners.

Dark straw colour with a slight haze. Earthy hop aroma with apricot notes, honey. The body is fresh and juicy, though some diacetyl creeps in to detract from that. Honeyish malts with a faint hint of toast balance with moderately bitter, earthy hops. The Style Police says that these days, this beer would be more of an APA, but they’ll let it slide because it’s quite well made.

Chestnut-mahogany colour. A little flat looking, with no head. Slightly phenolic aroma, with a hint of raisin, lightly roasty and tootsie rollish malts. A little bit spicy, yeasty on the palate with lots of dark malt. Finishes sweet and plummy. A bit thin, alcohol shows a bit too much at the end. Slight upgrade 2005 over 2004, mainly on the palate, which I probably underscored last time out. The 2006 actually scores a fair bit higher, as it has a bigger body and was on cask (thus, not as filtered as the bottles).

a dark murky brown color. The nose has dark fruit, cinnamon, caramel, mud, molasses and apple crumble. The medium lightly sour body gives why to a drastically dry finish. This beer is very hard to explain. However, the label is probably my favourite beer label of all time.

Gives the full cascade hop effects with a grapefruity nose, a juicy hoppy center with the additions of apples and peaches and then ending bold and bitter!

Not necessarily that bad, but the flavours and body are all over the place, malty sour nose with hints of toffee and coffee while the body is woody with hints of figs, leaves and bubblegum in the back ground. I had a hard time figuring this one out.
