Bottle. Golden pour. Aroma of orange zest, citrus, bready malt and some caramel. Taste has bitter orange zest, buttery caramel, citrus, bready malt and bitter herbal hop. Probably a bit old, but it's not bad.

0.33 l bottle from 'Speciaalbierpakket.nl', best before May 2019, cellared for almost two years. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, some licorice and a touch of hazelnut. Quite sweet, malty, gently roasty and maybe minimally woody taste of dark chocolate, coffee, some licorice, a touch of hazelnut and hints of dark fruits, followed by a medium long, gently roasty-bitter, earthy, minimally woody finish. Full body, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very tasty and saturating RIS, superbly balanced while the oak is hardly noticeable.

0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', bottled in June 2017, cellared for over one-and-a-half years. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, sourish-funky, fruity and gently roasty aroma of dark chocolate, cherries, red berries, licorice and red wine. Gently sweet, malty, gently roasty, sourish, quite fruity and a bit funky taste of dark chocolate, cocoa powder, coffee, licorice, red berries and red wine, followed by a medium long, gently roasty-bitter, earthy-dry, vinous, tartish and woody finish. Medium body, smooth, slightly astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very tasty, the sourish fruitiness adds another dimension to it. Sometimes a little infection does magic!

Nasmaak is iets bitter

Fles gedeelt met Inoven. Het is een donkerbruin bier met een volle beige schuim. Het heeft een rokerige en turf achtige geur. De smaak is eikenhout en rook. Erg jammer van de rook.

0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', best before October 2020. A bit hazy, golden amber with a thin, foamy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, fruity-grassy, floral and slightly vinous aroma of white grapes, gooseberry and some lemon peel. Minimally sweet, slightly sourish, fruity, vinous, moderately floral and a bit yeasty taste of white grapes, lemon peel, gooseberry and some wood, followed by a medium long, fairly dry, slightly tart, moderately bitter and a bit grassy finish. Medium body, a little astringent and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Really nice beer, a Belgian Strong ale with a pleasant vinous character, very well-balanced and easy to drink. I must admit that I didn't expect that much and I'm quite surprised how well it turned out.

No, this is not a rauchbock. This is a smoked attempt at a bock where rye suddenly appeared. Trying to be too many things and not succeeding very well. Well smoked, but thin. Flavourwise it's just caramel sweet, with a weird kind of sourness in the back.
