Draft - Lime and light malt sweetness. Hazy pale gold with a decent white head. Kefir lime and a bright citrus sweetness. Very easy drinking with a nice finish.

Draft - Skunky earthy hops with a caramel backbone. Clear gold with a good white head. Bitter and skunky hops with some orange peel. Lingering bitterness.

Draft - Sour grapes and some barrel notes. Cloudy yellow gold with a decent white. Funky oak notes, white grape, lacto and some oak. Awesome.

Draft - Bright grapefruit and citrus. Cloudy yellow with a rich white head. Bright grapefruit and lemon, bright bitterness and a long bitter finish. A citrus bomb. Big and refreshing.

(On tap at Bar Hop, June 19 2014, as Indie x Sawdust City Camp Out S’more Stout) Pours very deep brown, almost black, dark red highlights, small tan head. Aroma quite sweet, lightly toasted, burnt sugar, kind of chocolate cookie, bit of graham cracker, definitely s’moreish. Quite sweet at first on the palate, chocolate, vanilla-ish, marshmallow, lightly toasty, bit of graham cracker. Kind of fades out rather than being malty though, watery taste to finish without a lot of punch, faintly roasty, lots of graham cracker in the finish which is otherwise weak. Body fairly light and average for a stout, watery, little carb - wanted a thicker, syrupy rich stout because if it’s gonna taste like a s’more it may as well be indulgent. This didn’t really come together for me - nose was bang on but while it drank fine it wasn’t really something I’d seek out.

(On tap at Bar Hop, June 19, 2014) Pours a very lightly hazed deep reddish brown with a big, dense head of tan foam and lots of lace. Aroma is quite powerful, dried dark fruits and berries with loads of sweet toffee/caramel malts, just a little bit of spicy hop character manages to overcome the wall of malts. On the palate, rich and unctuous and sweet, a combination of fresh berries and stewed, sugared dark fruits paired with loads of brown sugar and caramel malt flavours. Towards the finish a little bit of hop bittering becomes apparent, as does some alcohol heat, especially as it warms - nonetheless the finish is still predominately sweet. The mouthfeel is extremely full, syrupy and viscous with very soft carbonation, and while the raw boozy edge does show up a bit it is extremely restrained given the ABV. Despite being listed as an American barley wine as the malts seem to have mostly overwhelmed the hop schedule but it would be an awesome backbone for a big whack of hops, or either barrel or bottle ageing. Even on its own it’s a dangerously drinkable post-supper sipper.

(On cask at Bar Hop, June 19 2014, as "Couch Surfer w/ strawberries") Pours a very cloudy dark blonde with a tiny white head of small bubbles. Nose has lots of fresh strawberries and citrusy hops, maybe some other fruit in there but strawberries hold court. On the palate, a balance of slightly catty citrus pith/tropical fruit hops and strawberry flesh with a slightly sweet and grainy malt body, pretty light. In the finish, reasonably bitter citrus hops and strawberry, kind of a strawberry seed flavour persisting. Fairly light cask mouthfeel. I was not sure how the strawberries would integrate with the hop character but the answer is very well, they don’t completely overpower the hops but the latter nicely support the berries. Summery, a perfect June beer and a good fit for cask. Would drink again for sure.

(On tap at Bar Hop, June 19 2014) Pours a slightly cloudy darker brown with basically no head. Aroma has a little dried dark fruit, nutty, some caramel and light spice. On the palate, raisin, caramel, toasted nuts, a little sweet, more nuts and spice on the finish. Not as rich or cloying as some dubbels but not as flavorful either. Moderately full mouthfeel with little carb. Nothing bad here, but it didn’t really pop for me either - I felt is was nuttier than I expected and the wit didn’t seem to add much to the dubbel.

(On tap at Bar Hop, June 19 2014) Pours a pale yellow with an orange tinge and a big frothy white head, lingering with lace. On the nose, a mix of sweet cherry, pale malt and slightly spicy saison character. On the palate, a nice juicy sweet cherry flavour mixed with light grain and grassy herbs to start. Unfortunately that seemed to be it, the beer fell flat after with grain, slight spice and lingering fruit turning pretty much to water with no finish at all. Mouthfeel was quite light and watery as well, with a soft carb. Promised much and delivered little as a complete package. I kind of wonder (hope?) whether something wasn’t quite right here.
