500mL bottle, undated, from warm shelf, quite old, drunk 4/14/23. Clear deep honey-brass. Small, off-white head to ring quickly. Big brett nose with rosewater, lavender, almost a white wine-like character and no hops at this point. It's surprisingly not over-developed, though it's close. Malts seem strong, very honey-rich. Clean, no alcohol or flaw noted. Soft, comforting with dense malts adding graham cracker, honey, vanilla and balancing the floral, slightly spicy Brett character. Quite a bit of interesting stuff going on here, especially given the lack of adjuncts. They got a lot of complexity out of this Brett fermentation with pretty much zero unwanted notes. The big malt profile certainly helps here.

On tap at Urban Family, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small beige head. Aroma is extremely rich, with intense bourbon barrels, dark dried fruits, caramel and brown sugar. Flavour is rich, with intense bourbon barrels, brown sugar, dark dried fruits, and caramel. Really great beer structure and beautifully barrel aged. It's not an elegant barley wine, as it's on the abrasive side, but it's brewed very well and is very bold. Excellent.

On tap at Urban Family, pours a cloudy amber orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out intense stone fruits - loads of peaches and apricot — accentuated by gentle wine barrels and bugs. Flavour is moderately tart, with plenty of acidity from the stone fruits, followed by a touch of red.

12oz can pours out black topped with a small tan head. Nose is sweet chocolate roast malts vanilla coffee hazelnut. Taste is more of the nice sweet chocolate roast malts vanilla hazelnut and a bourbon barrel vanilla kick.

On tap at Urban Family, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma is extremely rich, with in these coffee, bourbon, and molasses. Flavour is extremely rich and decadent, with complex bourbon notes, molasses, coffee, and dark sugars. Extremely intense, with the bourbon front-and-centre and the coffee accentuating well. Excellent.

7.1
Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5

On tap at Urban Family, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma reveals notes of hazelnut and vanilla upfront, backed by bourbon barrels and medium roast. Flavour is a bit heavy and jumbled, with hazelnuts, vanilla, bourbon and booze. The cohesion isn't as great here as with the coffee and orange zest versions. A bit harsh and boozy despite the undeniably nice adjunct flavours. Good but needs refinement.

On tap at Urban Family, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma is loaded with fresh orange zest, bourbon barrels and molasses. Flavour is wonderful, with tons of orange zest, bourbon barrels, and dark sugars. The cohesion of the orange zest with the bourbon is frankly impressive. Sublime stuff.

On tap at Urban Family, pours a cloudy rusted red and served with an orange slice, and served warm (obviously).Aroma brings out cinnamon, orange peel, nutmeg and berries. Flavour is very pleasant and balanced, with tart berries, cinnamon, nutmeg and orange peel. Finishes tart, bitter and spicy. Very pleasant. Not as good as Cascsde Glueh Kriek but pretty solid nonetheless.

On tap at Urban Family, pours a hazy dark amber brown with a small white head. Aroma brings out plenty of oak, bready malt, and a hint of dry toasted caramel. Flavour is malty, with bready malt, oak, and light toasted caramel. Nicely done for the style, accentuated by the oak. Good stuff.
