Far more bitter than I was expecting, roasty with a mild chocolate undercurrent but never sweet. Finishes with minor English yeast esters popping up, but mainly retains a dark roast bitterness. Might be very good if it weren’t for the thin feel. As it is, drinkable but nothing special.

Decent nose belies mediocre witbier notes, mild hints of banana and sweet clove but overall watery and weak with a yeasty finish in need of some personality. Firm bitterness helps, then gets cancelled out by the thin feel. Skip it.

Semisweet front, grainy malts with a slight tinge of caramel sliding into a dry, moderately strong noble hop finish. Tastes better than it looks, and the texture’s right. Average but drinkable.

Sample at Ale Yeah! Decatur, at their 4.5 year anniversary. Pours a hazy yellow, with a big, foamy head. The nose is lime juice, tangerines, oats, and some light yogurt tang. Very sharp sour flavor, with only some light citrusy sweetness. Medium body, crisp, and very acidic. This is a very nice, tart, and refreshing sour.

Shaker pint draft at the brewpub in Atlanta, Georgia. The pour is a light haze copper ruby with a 1/2 inch light tan head. The aroma is faint, showing some grass and earth. The taste is fresh earthy hops, nicely softly bitter and nice cracker caramel malt, moving towards pleasant spice rye in the finish. The palate is light to medium bodied with a very dry finish. I liked this one, nice use of the wet hops.

Sample at GABF 10/04/2014, thanks to my BIL for assistance with note-taking. Slightly hazy pale yellow color with a thin white head that evaporates quickly. Spotty lacing. Aroma of lemons and wheat. Light body with flavors of zesty lemons and herbal wheat. The finish is mildly tart with a short lemony aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Location: Draft at Max Lagers, 4/17/13

Aroma: The nose has some caramel, toast, a bit of spice, and some hops
Appearance: It pours a clear orange-amber color, with an off-white head, drippy lace
Flavor: The flavor is pretty good for the style, balanced, medium sweet and medium bitter
Palate: This is a clean and drinkable Vienna, with an average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought that this was a pretty nice example of the style with a pretty good flavor profile to it. Another good house brew on this trip to Max Lagers.

Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5

Location: Draft at Max Lagers, 4/17/13

Aroma: It has a clean citrus hop nose, with some pale malts and some spice as well
Appearance: It pours a hazed orange color, with a small white head, and minimal lace
Flavor: The flavor is medium-plus bitter early, with a clean malt backbone, and a bitter finish
Palate: The body is medium, it has a fairly average carbonation, a good feel, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: Very solid IPA. Clearly the only conclusion I can draw it that either I got the short end of the stick last time, or the beers have drastically improved.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7.5

Location: Draft at Max Lagers, 4/17/13

Aroma: The nose is mid-roasty, with some citrus hops, and fairly mild smoke
Appearance: It has a dark brown pour with a reddish hue, thick tan head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: Tastes mid-sweet, fruity notes, roast, and light bitterness. The smoke is barely noticeable
Palate: The body is light-medium, it is smooth and creamy, and thins out just a hint in the finish
Overall Impression: This is some pretty solid stuff. From my first beer at least, it looks like the brewing here has improved, my place review may need to do the same.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours golden dark brown to deep orange with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Rather sweet flavoured. Malty to caramelish toffee. Lingering sweet caramelish finish.
