Pour is a dark red-brown with a huge tan head. Aroma is a nice caramel malt with plenty of dark fruit and a bit of alcohol. Flavor is a really nice dark fruit. Lots of sugar plumbs, raisons and a dark toffee coating. This was a pretty flavorful doppelbock and pretty spot on for the style.

Bottle at Ben and Alida’s wedding - Chicago. Pours clear, deep copper-gold with a white cream topping. Caramel and bready malts in the nose. Medium sweet flavor with notes of cereal, rich bread, light berries. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sugary finish with some toasted grains, caramel and light, leafy hops. Pretty decent amber lager.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a cold April night. Appearance is a dark amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is rich in caramel malt, sweet, faint. Taste is very good, great sweet profile rich in chocolate and caramel, biscuit flavored / rich. Good stuff!

12oz bottle. I’m not a fan of rye, and am generally less than enthusiastic about Dunkels. They nail it here, though. The rye complements the deep brown chocolate notes very well. Perfect body, doughy and creamy. I really enjoy seeing lagers done well. Good stuff.

Draft at Olympic. From notes. Super sweet with loads of cherry, caramel and toffee. Good, but too sweet for me.
