Black Hills Beer Fest - Dark brown pour with a small tan head. Aroma is smooth with roast, espresso, and chocolate. Tastes heavier in the roast with light espresso and modest chocolate. Very light vanilla. Nice amount of bitters.

12oz bottle. Murky orange-brown color. Thin, patchy off-white head. Pretty standard offering, though the body is a touch watery. Easy drinking, medium bodied. On the maltier side of the equation, very delicately hopped. Somewhat nutty, with some fruity amber malt tones. Smooth and sessionable, but not so noteworthy.

12oz shorty bottle. Deep, opaque stained-glass red/brown. Thin off white head laces the glass. Deep, smooth chocolate, caramel, toffee notes. Medium bodied, a pretty true to style example. Rich, sweet, chocolate tones. Somewhat nutty. Refreshing. Well executed.

12oz bottle. Opaque brown-black, with a solid off-white head. Vanilla, coffee, and some roastiness in the aroma. Medium bodied, with some vanilla coffee bitterness that fades into a sweet, malty aftertaste. OK, well executed I suppose, sort of a Creme Brulee light. Vanilla and coffee come a little too dessert-like for me. I’m not a big coffee fan though. Decent.

12oz bottle. Orange-tan color. Big soapy off-white head. Toasty, bitter aroma. Mellow, balanced, quite sessionable. Creamy smoked malt aftertaste. Not as heavy on the dark malts, which is quite nice for an American Scottish Ale. The smoke is well integrated, certainly not overwhelming. Enjoyable, well executed beer.

12oz bottle. I would’ve thought Honey Ale. Hazy, unfiltered, orange-tan color. Mellow, easy drinking light side of medium-bodied, quite quaffable. Quite old school, but quite well executed as well. The honey does provide an excellent balance between the medium golden-sweet malt tones and the mild, soapy bitterness, with its sweet gloss. Easy, simple, spot on.

12oz bottle. Hazy orange-tan color. Thin white head. Sweet aroma, mellow herbal touch. The chamomile really be considered a Wit in my opinion, this is more along the lines of the new school American Spiced Saisons. Mellow, medium bodied. Not overbearing spice-wise, quite well-balanced. Some orange citrus tones, wheaty, doughy body. Pretty good.

Bottle thanks to drowland. Pours black with off white head. Nose of vanilla bean, spice, brownie and coffee. Very good nose. Taste of dry vanilla bean and spicy hops. Missing something. Not sure what on the palate.

bottle pours dark brown with a medium light tan head with spotty lacing. Aroma is thin vanilla and strong cocoa. Flavor is rich coffee and chocolate malt, brownies, vanilla bean, red bean, and toffee. Very rich porter.

Rating #1600. 12 oz bottle courtesy of hundred dolla Bill. Best enjoyed by 08 09 notched on the bottle. Pour is deepest brown with slight ruby highlights. One inch tan head falls with no lacing. Aroma of roasty coffee malt and some ashiness. Mild tobacco leaf. Not much beyond that. Taste is the roast, with some vanilla sweetness behind that. The finish is smoky, and a little charred. Palate is light bodied, medium to high carbonation. Nice enough, though a bit watery and one dimensional. Thanks for bringing these to the house Wild Bill.
