Description
Childhood friends, Darek Bell and Andrew Webber, began homebrewing beer and wine in Darek and Amy Lee Bell’s garage. They hit a snag while working on a prototype bio-diesel plant, causing Andrew to remark that making whiskey would be much more satisfying. The idea stuck, and the two soon found themselves studying distilleries and spirits.

Soon after, in 2008, Corsair Distillery was founded in Bowling Green, KY. By 2010, Corsair set its marks where it all started, becoming the first craft distillery in Nashville since prohibition. Corsair’s spirits have been praised in publications like Food and Wine, Saveur, Imbibe, Whisky Magazine, Whisky Advocate, the Atlantic, Time Out New York, and Maxim.com. Corsair’s innovative and adventurous spirits have won over 800 medals at national and international spirits competitions.

As Nashville has grown, Corsair has grown with it. With two Nashville natives at the head of the business, Corsair has expanded greatly since its arrival in 2010. In January 2016, Corsair opened its doors to a second Nashville location, the WeHo Headquarters. Not only did this move create office spaces and more barrel storage, but it allowed for the creation of craft whiskey on a higher production scale. This gave Corsair the opportunity to produce more small batch craft beers at, what is now called, the Marathon Village Brewstillery.

Now, not only can you get craft spirits from Corsair, but also craft beers. Utilizing local farms and Corsair's local malthouse and smokehouse, we strive to put "Nashville in a bottle". And as tourism booms and more and more people are moving into Nashville, we only continue to grow around the city we love. To get a closer look at what we are doing here at Corsair, stop by one of our locations for a tour. We hope to see you soon - cheers!

Light amber. Just a thin head. Earthy hop nose. Bitter, piney, light fruity notes, which might be juniper. Pretty unexciting.

Dark amber, medium head. Light smoke on the nose. Palate is vaguely smoky, malts are a bit thin, maybe a touch too much acidity, like green apple notes.

Dark brown. Thin head. Has a slight molasses, toasty malt. Lightly chocolatey in the finish. Ok...does seem a bit lagerish but isn't nearly bringing the malt complexity I want from this style.

On tap at Corsair, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is fairly woody, with subdued honey. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of wood, subdued honey sweetness, and caramel. The wood minimizes the sweetness of this. Solid stuff.

On tap at Corsair, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is full of coffee upfront, followed by toasted caramel and syrupy dark fruits. Flavour is much the same, with loads of coffee, syrupy dark fruits and caramel. Nice viscous palate, with high sweetness that fits well. Very good.

On tap at Corsair, pours a hazy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out loads of citrus and floral notes, with subdued hops, and soft biscuity malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with floral and citrus hops, backed with the biscuity malt base. Floral and citrus, but quite soft. Solid.

On tap at Corsair, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with the gin botanical, leaving little else. Flavour is quite spicy and floral, with lots of botanicals, boozy gin, and floral notes. On the spicy side, with a very earthy finish. Fun beer but not to my taste.

On tap at Corsair, pours a clear golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of straw and lightly sweet cereal malts. Flavour is much the same, with dry cereal malts and straw. Clean and well-brewed, just not terribly exciting.

Sample at the Distillery & Taproom. Clear brown color with a thin light beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing. Aroma of malt, herbs and hops. Medium body with flavors of roasted nuts, earthy malt and a bit of fruit. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.
