Description
As of 5/24/25 Wasatch Brewery beers will no longer be brewed in Utah. They will be brewed in the Monster Brewing network.
“Where’s the beer? Where are the breweries?” Those were among the first thoughts Greg Schirf had after moving to Utah from Milwaukee in the early 80’s. Incredibly, drinking and brewing were all but forbidden. Greg took matters into his own hands and did what any self-respecting midwesterner would do: He started a brewery. Wasatch was the very first brewery in Utah – and one of the first craft brewers in all of the U.S. – brewing award-winning brews since 1986.
In 1988, Greg Schirf proposed another bill to the Utah Legislature making brewpubs legal in Utah and opened the first brewpub at the top of historic Main Street in the resort town of Park City. Wasatch continues to misbehave, turning out naughty beer after naughty beer year after year.

Courtesy of douglas88. Pours clear deep gold with thin white head. The aroma is legary sweet malts and a bit of esters when swirled around. The taste has a bit of hop bite to start to go along with grainy malts and a pretty darn refreshing sensation.

Courtesy of douglas88. Pours a striking amber with thin tan head. The aroma is musty with fruit and malts creating a pleasing sensation with the aid of a touch of molasses, spice and pine hop bitterness off in the background. I was expecting the taste to be as thick and rich as the nose but it starts thin and then moves into musty smushed up fruity goodness and modest pine hoppiness. Very nice. Seems almost barleywine like, which I like.

Courtesy of douglas88, thanks. Pours modestly hazy deep gold with nice off white head. The aroma is fruity with apples and pears to go along with yeast and cloves. The taste is sweet with apples, a sweetness like candi sugar, a sense of wheat and spices such as cloves and coriander. Nice brew with tasty balanced flavor notes.

Bottle thanks to douglas88. Pours darkish gold with a big frothy white head. Bready aroma. Perhaps a bit of noble hop. Near medium body with decent carbonation. Flavor is bready and hallertauish. Finish is mildly bitter. It’s on its way to being a German pilsener, not just a pale lager. Some light fruit developed somewhere, I’ve just noticed.

Bottle from douglas88. Thanks! Gold color with a quickly disappearing white head. Mild aromas of fruit and yeast. Medium body with lightly frothy carbonation. Rather citric with bread. Finish has light sweetness balanced by noblish hops. Quite nice.

Thanks to Douglas88 for this bottle. Beautiful clear ruby color with a good beige head. Aroma of roasted caramel with a touch/hint of smoke. Full body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet roast caramel, but there are notes of coffee and smoke. And hints of fruit. Finish is moderately sweet, and there’s not much hop bitter. But the whole thing is a feast for the mouth.

Bottle gratefully received from Douglas88. Pours dark ruby amber with a significant beige/tan head. Strong malt aroma - not so much sweet as strong. Some supporting notes of chocolate and resin. Medium plus body with smooth, creamy carbonation. Flavor is malt, touch of chocolate, and a lot of hop, maybe mostly floral. Finish goes down to something like bitter chocolate. Seems well balanced. Very flavorful. It’s really nice to drink.
