On tap at Jack Stack. Pours a clear yellow gold with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has a good amount of pine with some citrus rind with and a grain backbone. Flavor has a combination of grass, pine and some grains underlying.

10 oz draft at the Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a slight haze ruby golden with a one inch light tan well formed head. The head is quite lasting. The aroma is floral citrus, strong rye and cracker malt. The taste is orange citrus, floral, resin, rye and finishes dry with a touch of bitterness and grass. The palate is medium bodied with soft carbonation and a mineral, resin, rye finish that is clean and dry. Nice use of rye.

12 oz can purchased at the Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is an opaque black brown with a 1/4 inch tan head that is lasting. The aroma is boozy alcohol, soft roast and wood barrel. The taste is big bourbon right away, caramel sweetness, roast and decently integrated booze. Finishes with wood, grass and more alcohol lingering. The palate is heavy to medium bodied with soft carbonation and the warming finish. Solid.

32 oz crowler filled at the Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap in Kansas City, Missouri, consumed at home 48 hours later. The pour is brown with a ½ inch light khaki head. The aroma is soft roast, grass, and a bit of caramel malt. The taste is the roast, almost char upfront, bit of soft grass and the clean malt in the finish. The palate is light bodied, with active carbonation and a dry roast mineral clean finish. Easy drinking beer, it reminded me of Session Black, a beer I love. It felt more Schwarzbier to me, but whatever, it’s a tasty beer. I wish they were doing 15 packs of this beer.

32 oz crowler filled at the Martin City Brewing Company Pizza & Tap in Kansas City, Missouri, consumed at home 20 minutes later. The pour is a clear golden with a ½ inch white that falls quick. The aroma is faint floral hop and grain. The taste is the cereal grain malt, with a bit of the floral grass hop. Decently clean. The palate is light bodied with soft carbonation. As the beer warms, the malt has a sharpness to it that is a little off putting.
